CHRISTINA AGUILERA TO PERFORM AT "2008 AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS," NOVEMBER 23 ON ABC
Aguilera Will Join Mariah Carey, Coldplay, Miley Cyrus, Kanye West, Alicia Keys,
Rihanna, Ne-Yo, Pussycat Dolls, Taylor Swift and Many More at 36th Annual AMAs;
Added Presenters Include Motley Crue, Terrence Howard and Nick Lachey
"American Music Awards" Producer Larry Klein announced today that Christina Aguilera will perform at the live ceremony. Jimmy Kimmel will host the 2008 AMAs, which will also feature performances by Mariah Carey, Coldplay, Miley Cyrus, Kanye West, Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Ne-Yo, New Kids on the Block, Pussycat Dolls, Taylor Swift, P!nk, The Fray and Annie Lennox, who will receive the special Award of Merit. Klein also announced that Motley Crue, Terrence Howard and Nick Lachey would be awarding trophies at the 36th annual AMAs. Additional performers and presenters will be announced in the coming weeks. The show will broadcast live from the NOKIA Theatre L.A. LIVE on SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 23 (8:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on ABC. "We are very excited to have Christina Aguilera perform at this year's show. Aguilera released "Keeps Gettin' Better - A Decade of Hits," a collection of her most memorable songs, exclusively at Target and Target.com yesterday (Tuesday, November 11). The album will feature ten of her most popular, chart-topping hits and include two brand new tracks, "Keeps Gettin' Better" and "Dynamite." She has re-recorded two classic songs, "Genie in a Bottle" and "Beautiful," which can only be found on this album.
Music fans are now able to vote for the T-Mobile "Breakthrough Artist" Award. The nominees for this special award are Colbie Caillat, Flo Rida, Jonas Brothers, Paramore and The-Dream. T-Mobile customers can vote via text message (standard text-messaging rates apply) and/or fans can vote at ama.abc.com. Voting for the T-Mobile "Breakthrough Artist" Award concludes during the American Music Awards on November 23rd.
