LIFETIME TELEVISION ANNOUNCES A SECOND ORDER OF THE POPULAR NEW REALITY SERIES
Fitness Trainer JESSIE PAVELKA and Psychotherapist STACY KAISER Return for Season Two
LOS ANGELES, CA (February 3, 2009) DietTribe, Lifetime's new reality series about a group of friends who have made a commitment to lose weight together, has been renewed for a second season, it was announced today by JoAnn Alfano, Executive Vice President, Entertainment, Lifetime Networks. The finale of Season One aired Monday, February 2. Beginning February 9, the series will be repeated during its regular time slot, Mondays at 10 PM ET/PT on Lifetime Television.
"DietTribe revolves around a small group of close friends whose poor eating habits and lifestyle choices have left them overweight, unfulfilled and desiring a change. Through one another's support, they were able push each other to reach their weight loss goals and a renewed self-esteem. We think this series has great potential and is a great fit with our brand of celebrating and supporting women," said Alfano. She added, "It's incredible how viewers are responding to the series by forming their very own diettribes' with their friends."
Since its premiere on January 5, 2009, DietTribe has cumed more than 13 million viewers and is drawing a younger female audience to the Network. Additionally, online traffic to myLifetime.com increased by 30 percent in January over the same month last year, driven by the launch of the DietTribe show site and community.
The first season of DietTribe focused on five California friends who all wanted to lose 30 pounds in time for one of their weddings. All of the women reached their goal.
Eight, one-hour episodes have been ordered for the second cycle which will follow a new group of friends for 120 days culminating in a big event. Premiering this summer, the show will follow the tribe as they deal with real life temptations, struggle to stay on track through the toughest workouts of their lives and face the scale each week to see how far they've come both mentally and physically. Professional fitness trainer Jessie Pavelka and psychotherapist Stacy Kaiser will both return to guide them toward healthier and happier lives.
