SNL ANNOUNCES FEBRUARY LINEUP; FEATURES VALENTINE'S DAY SPECTACULAR
Bradley Cooper hosts with musical guest TV On The Radio February 7; Alec Baldwin returns as host with musical guest Jonas Brothers February 14
New York, NY - February 2, 2009 - "Saturday Night Live" will present back-to-back shows to open the month of February, featuring "He's Just Not That Into You" co-star Bradley Cooper as host February 7, along with musical guest New York-based soul rock band, TV On The Radio.
Emmy-Award winner and 14th-time SNL host, Alec Baldwin, will do the honors Valentine's Day. Jonas Brothers, the 2008 American Music Award winner for "breakthrough artist", will be the evening's musical guest.
Bradley Cooper can be seen starring opposite Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Connelly, and Jennifer Aniston in the romantic comedy "He's Just Not That Into You". He can also be seen opposite Jim Carrey in the comedy "Yes Man." Cooper has a wide array of film credits to his name, including the romantic comedy "Failure to Launch" opposite Matthew McConaughey and Sarah Jessica Parker, "Wedding Crashers" opposite Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, and cult favorite "Wet Hot American Summer" opposite Janeane Garofalo, Molly Shannon and Paul Rudd. His stage credits include the Broadway production of "Three Days Of Rain" opposite Julia Roberts and Paul Rudd, and the critically acclaimed Theresa Rebeck play "The Understudy," which premiered at the Williamstown Theatre Festival to rave reviews and sold out performances. With back-to-back features on the horizon Bradley Cooper just finished production on the comedy "The Hangover," which is slotted for a Summer 2009 release. He can next be seen in "All about Steve" starring opposite Sandra Bullock and in the thriller "Case 39" opposite Renee Zellweger.
Joining Cooper is the Indie rock quintet TV On The Radio. Their latest album, "Dear Science", has received critical acclaim and was named the best album of 2008 according to Rolling Stone, Spin Magazine, The Guardian, Entertainment Weekly, MTV, and Pitchfork Readers Poll. According to Rolling Stone, "the year's finest rock album was also the one that sounded the most like America in 2008... they greeted the historical moment with awe- and responded with art-rock party music." With the success of the album, GQ Magazine named TV On The Radio as the Breakout Band of the Year. Originally from Brooklyn, Blender Magazine says that they are "the coolest band in NYC." The band's 2006's "Return to Cookie Mountain" was also named Spin Magazine's Album of the Year. TV On The Radio has a unique sound, which is described by Entertainment Weekly as "swirling eddy of broken-down doo-wop, shivery post-punk, funk, and rock which feels like a bridge from the past to a sonic future."
Alec Baldwin has won an Emmy Award, two Golden Globe Awards, three SAG Awards and a Television Critics Association Award for his hilarious turn on NBC's hit show "30 Rock". He has been heralded by Entertainment Weekly as a "comic genius" and is one of Hollywood's most charismatic and prolific actors - both on stage and in film. He will next star in "Lymelife," opposite Jennifer Jason Leigh, Timothy Hutton, Cynthia Nixon and Rory Culkin and in "My Sisters Keeper," opposite Cameron Diaz, Joan Cusack and Abigail Breslin. Baldwin garnered a 2004 Academy Award nomination for his role in "The Cooler" opposite William H. Macy and won rave reviews for his performances in several other films including Martin Scorsese's "The Departed" and "The Aviator". Other film credits include "The Good Shepherd", "The Hunt for Red October," "Miami Blues," "Prelude To A Kiss," "Malice," "The Shadow," "Glengarry Glen Ross," "Heaven's Prisoners," "Ghosts of Mississippi," "The Edge," "Pearl Harbor" and "The Cat in the Hat." Among his many stage credits, Baldwin won acclaim and a Tony nomination for his work opposite Jessica Lange in "A Streetcar Named Desire," which also garnered him an Emmy nomination for the television adaptation. Baldwin has made his mark in the entertainment business not only as an actor but also as a producer. Baldwin's production company, El Dorado Pictures, co-produced the Emmy-nominated miniseries "Nuremberg" and the feature film "State and Main."
Joining Baldwin and making their "SNL" debut is the pop culture phenomenon, Jonas Brothers. The multi-platinum selling musicians and songwriters were recently nominated for their first Grammy for Best New Artist, and have already won an American Music Award and six Teen Choice Awards. In 2008, Jonas Brothers sold over one million concert tickets between their "Look You in the Eyes" and "Burning Up" tours, the latter of which was documented for the band's first big screen movie, "Jonas Brothers; the 3D Movie Experience" set to premier in theaters February 27. The film captures the excitement of their live show, with a private look behind the scenes, as well as a glimpse of the manic hysteria and devotion of their fans. Also In 2008, Jonas Brothers made history by being the only band to ever hold three titles in the top ten album chart in Billboard, released a # 1 selling book, had the biggest selling Rolling Stone cover of the year, had the largest ratings for a non-sequel TV movie premier on Disney Channel with "Camp Rock," and began production on their own Disney Channel television show, "JONAS." 2009 is off to a fast paced start as well. Jonas Brothers are performing on this year's Grammy Telecast, and will be featured on Barbara Walter's Oscar Special.
