ABCFAMILY.COM ADDS TAKE180'S "MY ALIBI," AN ORIGINAL SHORT-FORM SERIES THAT INCORPORATES AUDIENCE CONTRIBUTIONS, TO ITS ONLINE VIDEO OFFERINGS
Burbank, CA (February 5, 2009) Beginning today, ABCFamily.com will add the short-form web series "My Alibi" from Take180 to its online video offerings. Episodes of the web series can be found in the "Shows" and "Watch" sections of ABC Family's site.
"My Alibi" follows five high school seniors -- Cy, Marley, Jonah, Scarlet and Rebecca -- as they set out to prove their innocence after a scandalous prank is pulled on school premises. The school's principal intends to confine them to a room until one confesses. The students interrogate each other, share stories, and eventually come to understand one another beyond stereotyped impressions.
The short-form web series which originally premiered last Fall on Take180's beta site, consists of 18 episodes, each of which features audience-submitted content -- from life lessons that are written into episode scripts to funny notebook doodles and webcam videos that end up on screen. "My Alibi" features Zachary Burr Abel, who has been cast in ABC Family's new original one-hour scripted drama, "Perfect 10," and will also be featured in several upcoming episodes of its hit series "The Secret Life of the American Teenager," and Alison Brie of "Mad Men," along with newcomers Adam Chambers, Cyrina Fiallo, Julianna Guill and Marque Richardson. "Beverly Hills 90210" veteran Gabrielle Carteris stars as the school principal.
"The ABC.Family.com community has an incredible appetite for video," said Vickie Collier, vice president, digital media, ABC Family. "We believe 'My Alibi' will appeal to the site's millennial audience and we're excited to bring the web series to our users."
"Score one for the 'Secret Life' fans," said Chris M. Williams, general manager of T180 Studios, the studio behind Take180. "Now they've got another great high school show right at ABCFamily.com. And not only is 'My Alibi' chock full of comedy, mystery and romance, but it features real life stories submitted by actual audience members."
ABOUT TAKE180
Take180 is the ultimate home for participatory web shows. Making its official debut in Spring 2009, the website features shows made with audience participation. Members of the site's community contribute videos, stories, photos and artwork in response to specific challenges from the show producers. The winning submissions are then featured in future episodes and the winners from each challenge receive various prizes. The community also provides feedback by commenting and voting on submissions from other members. The site launched in beta last Fall with three pilot series, "My Alibi," "In2ition" and "The Juice Box," and will officially roll out this Spring with the premiere of several new, original participatory series.
