Los Angeles, CA April 8, 2009 Medical drama "ER" has been added as an honoree at the "2009 TV Land Awards," it was announced today. The two-hour show, hosted by Neil Patrick Harris ("How I Met Your Mother," Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle and Assassins), will tape on Sunday, April 19th at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City and will air on TV Land during a special presentation of TV Land PRIME on Sunday, April 26th at 8PM ET/PT.

"ER," one of television's longest running dramas, will be presented with the Icon Award for the way that it changed television with its fast-paced steadi-cam shots as well as for its amazing and gritty storylines. The Icon Award is presented to a television program with immeasurable fame and longevity. The show transcends generations and is recognized by peers and fans around the world. As one poignant quiet moment flowed to a heart-stopping rescue and back, "ER" continued to thrill its audiences through the finale on April 2, which bowed with a record number 16 million viewers.

Cast members Alex Kingston, Anthony Edwards, Linda Cardellini, Ellen Crawford, Laura Innes, Kellie Martin, Mekhi Phifer, Parminder Nagra, Shane West and Yvette Freeman will all be in attendance to accept the award.

The Emmy-winning medical drama "ER" focuses on the lives of a group of doctors in the inner-city Chicago County General Hospital. They face stressful life and death situations that have an impact on their every day lives. In its 15-year prime-time television run, "ER" won 122 Emmy awards, making it the most-lauded drama in television history surpassing even "Cheers" and "M*A*S*H." The cast of the final season included Maura Tierney as Dr. Abby Lockhart, John Stamos as bad-boy and former paramedic Dr. Tony Gates and Academy Award-nominated actress Angela Bassett as the tough attending physician Dr. Cate Banfield. Rounding out County General's ER staff are nurse Samantha Taggart (Linda Cardellini), surgical resident Neela Rasgotra (Parminder Nagra), eccentric doctor Archie Morris (Scott Grimes) and newcomer Aussie Simon Brenner (David Lyons).

Based on the best-selling novel by the late Michael Crichton, executive produced by John Wells and produced by Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment, "ER" was one of the most compelling and critically acclaimed dramas, launching the careers of its original cast members including George Clooney, Noah Wyle and Julianna Margulies making them household names.

TV Land previously announced additional honorees for this year's show including Don Rickles (Legend Award), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Legacy of Laughter Award), "Married With Children" (Innovator Award), "M*A*S*H" (Impact Award), "Home Improvement" (Fan Favorite Award), "Magnum P.I."
