FANS CONTINUE TO VOTE FOR FAVORITE BREAKTHROUGH ARTIST IN 6th ANNUAL T-MOBILE AWARD FOR THE "2009 AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS," LIVE, NOVEMBER 22 ON ABC

Fans Can Vote for Country and Rap/Hip-Hop Nominees Via T-Mobile Text Messaging or at ama.abc.com Beginning October 19

The "2009 American Music Awards" is asking the public to cast their votes for this year's T-Mobile Breakthrough Artist Award, the only award which will determine the fans' top favorite new artist. This is also the only award on the AMAs where fans can text in their votes and continue to vote during the show. The T-Mobile Breakthrough Artist Award will be revealed during the live telecast of the special, airing SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 22 (8:00-11:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

Last week fans voted to determine the final nominees for the Pop/Rock and Soul/R & B genres. This week fans can vote from among two names in the Country and Rap/Hip-Hop categories to determine the one artist who will move on to be included as the final nominee from that category. T-Mobile USA customers can send a text message using their phones by sending the letter corresponding to their favorite artist to short code "AMA" (262). Standard text messaging charges apply. In addition, votes for the T-Mobile Breakthrough Artist Award can also be cast via the internet at ama.abc.com. Corresponding letters to text for each artist are as follows:

COUNTRY BREAKTHROUGH ARTISTS (OPEN FROM MON. OCT. 19 � TUES. OCT. 20)

"A" for Gloriana or "B" for Zac Brown Band

RAP/HIP-HOP BREAKTHROUGH ARTISTS (OPEN FROM WED. OCT. 21 � THURS. OCT. 22)

"A" for Drake or "B" for Kid Cudi

The nominees were chosen from different genres of music and were the top new artists in each category based on sales and airplay from November 2008 � August 2009.
