--Hour-Long Special Premieres Wednesday, November 4 at 10 PM ET/PT-
(Silver Spring, MD)-Discovery Health explores the puzzling and sometimes shocking world of sexual anomalies in STRANGE SEX, premiering Wednesday, November 4, at 10 PM (ET/PT.)
This hour-long special profiles four individuals-each willing to break their silence and discuss their mysterious and debilitating sexual condition. With guidance from leading researchers and counselors, STRANGE SEX gets past the shame and embarrassment associated with sexual issues to candidly explore the intricacies, impact and treatment of each disorder.
Cases explored include:
* Sex Allergy: After getting married, a young couple begins having unprotected sex-but the wife immediately experiences an extremely painful reaction to lovemaking. Their confusion is compounded when they are unable to become pregnant-until they learn that she is suffering from rare and seemingly unimaginable sexual abnormality.
* Sex Addiction: A woman recounts her uncontrollable pursuit of sexual pleasure and her frightening battle with sexual compulsivity disorder.
* Persistent Genital Arousal Disorder: Since childhood, a woman has suffered in silence from unrelenting episodes of sexual arousal, which can only be temporarily abated by self-stimulation. After finally being diagnosed, she and her doctor seek to alleviate the symptoms of the debilitating and consuming affliction that her physician describes as "Tourette's syndrome of the genitals."
* Sexomnia: A woman's boyfriend suspects that she may have unknowingly had sex with her ex-husband. Stunned, she learns that she suffers from sexomnia-a condition in which she has sex while sleeping, and wakes up with no recollection of her actions.
STRANGE SEX is produced for Discovery Health by Sirens Media. For Discovery Health, Alon Orstein is executive producer and for Sirens Media, Valerie Haselton is executive producer.
