Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!
BOB'S BURGERS (FOX) - The network has given a 13-episode order to the animated comedy, about "a creative grill man who runs a struggling burger joint with the help of his tightly wound wife and their three unhelpful kids." Loren Bouchard ("Home Movies") and Jim Dauterive ("King of the Hill") are behind the 20th Century Fox Television-based project, which completed a 12-minute presentation earlier this year. Said voice cast, which may or may not continue for the series, includes H. Jon Benjamin and John Roberts as parents as Bob and Linda with Kristen Schaal, Eugene Mirman and Dan Mintz as kids Louise, Gene and Tina, respectively. Production on the series then is set to begin shortly for an early 2011 premiere.
REX IS NOT YOUR LAWYER (NBC) - Sendhil Ramamurthy ("Heroes") and Jane Curtin ("3rd Rock from the Sun") have each landed roles on the drama pilot, about Rex Alexander (David Tennant), "a top Chicago litigator who begins suffering panic attacks and takes up coaching clients to represent themselves in court." Ramamurthy, whose involvement is in second position to "Heroes," will play "an ambitious but good-natured lawyer who was in Rex's shadow until Rex's career switch and whose friendship with Rex becomes complicated when he falls in love with his pal's fiancee (Abigail Spencer)." Curtin then is set as Rex's mother and mentor, "a successful law professor who falls in love with Rex's shrink (Jeffrey Tambor)." David Semel is helming the Universal Media Studios-based hour from a script by Andrew Leeds and David Lampson. Barry Schindel, Gail Berman, Lloyd Braun and Gene Stein also serve as executive producers.
TRUE BLOOD (HBO) - Marshall Allman ("Prison Break") and Shannon Lucio ("The O.C.") have both joined the cast of the show's third season. He'll play Tommy Mickens, "the long-lost younger brother of Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell) who works at a Tire Depot in Arkansas," while Lucio is set as Caroline Compton, "the wife of Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) who lived during the Civil War." Amber Dawn Landrum originated said role in flashback during the show's first season. Allman's role is a series regular while Lucio's is billed as recurring. Both join the previously announced Denis O'Hare as Russell Eddington, "the Vampire King of Mississippi." Production on the new season begins this week in Los Angeles.
UNTITLED NICOLE RICHIE PROJECT (ABC, New!) - Nicole Richie is set to topline a potential new comedy at the Alphabet about "a professional woman with complicated family relationships and struggling to figure out what role she'll take as her life and her family evolve." Daisy Gardner ("Californication") is penning the single-camera half-hour with Warren Bell ("According to Jim") and Jamie Tarses attached as executive producers for Sony Pictures Television. Richie and Michael Baum of Impression Entertainment are also expected to receive producing credits.
