MTV ENTERS "THE WORLD OF JENKS" AS THE FILMMAKER EXPLORES STRANGERS' LIVES IN NEW DOCU-SERIES PREMIERING SUMMER 2010
PASADENA, CA (January 15, 2010) Have you ever wondered what it would be
like to live someone else's life? Find out this summer when MTV introduces viewers to
"The World of Jenks," the brainchild of award-winning documentary filmmaker
Andrew Jenks. This new MTV docu-series follows Jenks as he shadows a complete
stranger in each episode - exploring their lives, interacting with their family, hanging
with their friends and living life through their eyes. Whether he is on the road with rapper
Maino, spending time behind bars at a juvenile detention center or living on the streets
with a homeless teen, Andrew Jenks keeps the cameras rolling every hour, every day.
"The World of Jenks" premieres on MTV this summer.
"Andrew Jenks is a gifted filmmaker who captures and uncovers unique slices of
American life by fully immersing himself in the reality of each situation so we can live
these moments through his eyes," said Tony DiSanto, President of Programming for
MTV. "This creator-driven reality project allows its star to shape each episode in front of
and behind the camera bringing a new voice and storytelling style to the genre."
"MTV has always represented the youth generation and I think this
docu-series can capture real stories about young people from all walks
of life: from living on the streets with a homeless person to
living in a war zone with soldiers," said Andrew Jenks.
Throughout the series, Andrew's experiences continuously change how he perceives and
interacts with the environment around him. For every new journey, Jenks brings the
audience closer to understanding someone else's reality.
For Andrew Jenks' first film, HBO's "Room 335," he moved into an assisted-living
facility and stayed for over a month. Jenks' second film, "The Zen of Bobby V" had him
spending seven months in Japan filming American baseball manager Bobby Valentine as
he managed the Chiba Lotte Marines. Praised by film critics around the world, the film
premiered at the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival.
"The World of Jenks" is Executive Produced and Directed by Andrew Jenks. Mike
Powers, Brent Haynes and Brooke Posch are Executive Producers.
"The World of Jenks" was showcased at the TCA conference in Pasadena today.
