THE BORGIAS (Showtime) - Francois Arnaud ("I Killed My Mother") has booked a role on the upcoming period drama, about Rodrigo Borgia (Jeremy Irons), "the cunning, manipulative patriarch of The Borgia family who ascends to the highest circles of power within Renaissance-era Italy." He'll play his "dashingly handsome" son, Cesare, in the project, which is set to roll out in early 2011. Colm Feore also stars in the hour, which comes from executive producers Michael Hirst and Neil Jordan.
ENLIGHTENED (HBO) - The Laura Dern-led/Mike White-penned comedy has been ordered to series by the pay channel. The single-camera project - about a formerly self-destructive woman who, after having a spiritual awakening, becomes determined to live an enlightened life, creating havoc at home and work - has received a 10-episode commitment. Amy Hill, Charles Esten, Diane Ladd, Luke Wilson and Sarah Burns also star in the half-hour, which Dern and White are executive producing with David Bernard and Jason Weinberg serving as producers. Production is on track to begin this summer in Los Angeles.
JEOPARDY!/WHEEL OF FORTUNE (Syndication) - CBS Television Distribution has cleared both game show veterans through the 2013-14 season, TheWrap.com reports. The pair had previously been a go through the 2011-12 season in pact signed back in January of 2007. Alex Trebek and Pat Sajak, hosts of the respective series, have also reportedly extended their contracts.
SHAMELESS (Showtime) - The cable channel has ordered its import of the U.K. drama, about "the lives of a very unconventional family," to series. William H. Macy toplines the ensemble, which also includes Emmy Rossum, Jeremy White, Justin Chatwin, Shanola Hampton, Steve Hawey and Allison Janney in a recurring role. Showtime will formally announce the 12-episode order later today. John Wells and Paul Abbott co-wrote the pilot, which was directed by Mark Mylod. Production is set to begin this summer, more than likely for a 2011 premiere date.
