Nurse Jackie's Edie Falco Becomes First Actress In Emmy History To Win Both Comedy And Drama Lead Statues

Showtime Honored With More Original Series Wins Than Any Other Cable Network

New York, NY (August 29, 2010) - It was a momentous evening for SHOWTIME as the network's stars and series were honored with multiple wins at the 2010 Primetime Emmy(R) Awards, held at the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles. With seven Emmy wins, SHOWTIME collected more of the coveted awards than ever in its 34-year history, and more original series wins than any other cable network.

Edie Falco, was honored as Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as "Jackie Peyton" in NURSE JACKIE. The honor marks her fourth Emmy win, but her first in the comedy category, making her the first actress in Emmy's 62-year history to win both the lead comedy and drama statues. Actor Carroll O'Connor won for both "All in the Family" and "In the Heat of the Night."

In addition, Steve Shill took home the statuette for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for the fourth season finale of DEXTER titled "The Getaway," Showtime's first win ever in the category.

Last Saturday at the Creative Arts Ceremony, John Lithgow was named Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his bone-chilling, edge-of-your-seat turn as serial killer "Arthur Mitchell" on the Emmy(R)-nominated and Peabody Award-winning series DEXTER. The SHOWTIME original series WEEDS, THE TUDORS and NURSE JACKIE garnered wins for Cinematography, Art Direction, Costumes and Main Title Theme Music.

The Primetime Emmy(R) Awards celebrate excellence in national primetime programming, awarding top honors at the annual Creative Arts and Primetime Awards ceremonies. A symbol of peer recognition from over 15,000 Television Academy members, more than two-dozen peer groups vote for the category of competition in their field of expertise.
