INVESTIGATION DISCOVERY PROFILES MISSING PERSONS CASES WITH THE RETURN OF THE HIT SERIES, DISAPPEARED

-- Season 2 of DISAPPEARED Premieres Monday, October 4 at 10 PM (ET) --

(Silver Spring, MD) - When someone goes missing, every moment is an emotional roller coaster for the loved ones left behind, while every second and every single clue counts in the search for the missing. Investigation Discovery is proud to present Season 2 of DISAPPEARED, providing an outlet for the loved ones of missing persons to profile their stories in the hopes that fresh leads or new information may come forward. Returning with 13 new episodes, the second season of DISAPPEARED premieres Monday, October 4 at 10 PM (ET) on Investigation Discovery.

"Working in the television industry, it's rare to be given the opportunity to help make a difference in people's lives, and I feel that DISAPPEARED provides us an opportunity of hope to do just that," said Henry Schleiff, president and general manager for Investigation Discovery. "This series has had such tremendous support from our viewers from the beginning, and it's truly remarkable to work on something that can possibly bring answers and hopefully closure to some of these missing persons cases."

Each episode of DISAPPEARED begins at the time immediately before the individual vanished, and chronicles the search for clues hidden beneath seemingly everyday behavior that may indicate what happened to the individual. While some of the resolutions are heartwarming and others tragic, many cases remain open to this day and continue to be a source of unbearable frustration for family members and friends. For the open cases that have gone cold, DISAPPEARED asks viewers to share any fresh leads in hopes of deciphering what truly happened to the missing and whether foul play may have been involved, or if the person simply chose to leave on their own.

Some of the first few cases profiled in the new season of DISAPPEARED include:

The Secret Journey: Premieres Monday, October 4 at 10 PM

Known for her quick smile and lightning speed on the soccer field, 17-year-old Brittanee Drexel from Rochester, N.Y., slipped off to spring break vacation in Myrtle Beach, S.C., without the consent or knowledge of her parents. On April 25, 2009, the night before she was supposed to come home, Drexel disappears. Video surveillance shows Drexel exiting a friend's hotel and her last known communication is a text to her boyfriend. But when police track her cell phone to an isolated rural area known for alligators and swamps, her family fears the worst.

The Beauty Queen Mystery: Premieres Monday, October 11 at 10 PM

After spending the day with students on October 24, 2005, 30-year-old high school teacher and former beauty queen Tara Grinstead vanishes from her home in Ocilla, Ga. To investigators, it first appears that Grinstead left with someone willingly - until they discover a latex glove in her front yard containing male DNA and indicating foul play.

Vanishing Bride: Premieres Monday, October 18 at 10 PM

On July 22, 2001, 28-year-old Niqui McCown disappears from a local laundromat near her home in Richmond, Ind. Four months later her car surfaces in a parking lot near the home of McCown's former colleague, Tommy Swint, a man who had once threatened her. However, police find no specific evidence that he is involved with her disappearance, and can only tag him as a "person of interest." Years later, police in neighboring Dayton, Ohio link Swint to an unsolved murder of a different woman. In November 2009, now nine years after McCown's disappearance, Swint is indicted. As detectives close in on Swint, another shocking development unfolds causing the story of McCown's disappearance to remain a mystery that continues to haunt her loved ones.

No Exit: Premieres Monday, October 25 at 10 PM

33-year-old Tanya Rider goes missing after her overnight shift at a grocery store in Bellevue, Wash. When her husband Tom contacts 911, emergency officials refuse to file a missing persons report because they think Rider may have left on her own. Tom must battle to get authorities to start a proper investigation, and when they finally do, detectives suspect he's involved.
