-- Groundbreaking Series Brings the Savage and Bloody Reality of the Dinosaur Era Back to Life --
October 4, 2010
(Cannes) Discovery Channel is set to re-conquer the prehistoric world with Reign of the Dinosaurs, an all-new six part series that combines the latest paleontological research with Hollywood storytelling, combined with the talent of the world's best illustrators and animators. Slated to debut on Discovery Channel in the United States in 2011, this program is destined to reset the benchmark-previously set by the network's iconic Walking with Dinosaurs-for dinosaur natural history programming. Discovery Enterprises International, Discovery's international program sales arm, is introducing this title at MIPCOM, seeking international pre-sale opportunities from interested third party distributors.
"Reign of the Dinosaurs' raw approach to storytelling will elevate dinosaur programming to an entirely new level," said Nicolas Bonard, senior vice president, Discovery Enterprises International. "This provocative series dares to lure viewers into the dangerous world of dinosaurs, while providing an unparalleled insight into the lives and times of these wondrous creatures."
With fresh, dynamic storytelling and keen expert input, each episode of Reign of the Dinosaurs highlights one of six prehistoric eras and features new creatures, such as giant dinosaurs with Freddy Krueger-style claws, and frogs that are large enough to eat dinosaurs. Each episode also provides a unique look at dinosaur behavior, from exotic mating dances to the inner workings of T-Rex's nuclear family.
Reign of the Dinosaurs is produced for Discovery Channel by US-based Creative Differences.
