LIFETIME ORDERS HEIDI KLUM-HOSTED UNSCRIPTED PROGRAM SERIOUSLY FUNNY KIDS (wt) FOR 2011
LOS ANGELES (October 12, 2010) - Lifetime Television has ordered the unscripted series Seriously Funny Kids (working title), hosted by supermodel and supermom Heidi Klum (Project Runway), for a 2011 launch, it was announced today by Lifetime Networks' President and General Manager, Nancy Dubuc, and Executive Vice President, Entertainment, JoAnn Alfano.
Seriously Funny Kids will feature Klum interacting with children and bringing out the hilarious and often insightful things they say. Lifetime has ordered 20 half-hour episodes of the program, which will be produced by LMNO Productions, with Klum, Eric Schotz (Kids Say the Darndest Things, I Get That A Lot), Desiree Gruber (Project Runway) and Jane Cha (Project Runway) executive producing.
Regarding the announcement, Dubuc said, "Seriously Funny Kids will continue to diversify our original programming schedule as we move forward developing and ordering new series that strengthen Lifetime's powerful combination of reality, scripted programs and movies year-round."
Klum added, "Someone once said never work with children and animals... so I decided to drop the animals and stick with the kids. Naptime, playtime and snack time are my favorites, so is it any wonder that kids and I get along so well? I have four children under the age of six, and to be honest, sometimes I enjoy them more than adults. They're uncensored, unpredictable and absolutely hilarious. The kids will be the absolute stars of this show."
Alfano said, "This series will capture the joy and surprising insight that embody a child's genuine point of view. Heidi Klum is a natural with kids, and, together, they will give viewers a fun and refreshing look into the often times hilarious window of child development and how our future generation sees the world."
A major star in the fashion and entertainment world, and mother of four children, Klum hosts Lifetime's Emmy? Award-nominated unscripted series Project Runway. Currently in its eighth season, Project Runway is this year's number one competitive un-scripted program on ad-supported cable among Women 18-49, Women 25-54, Women
18+ and Households. Named last week to Forbes Magazine's "The World's 100 Most Powerful Women" list, she also hosts Germany's Next Top Model and wrote the lifestyle book, Body of Knowledge: 8 Rules of Model Behavior. Klum designs an active wear collection, "Heidi Klum for New Balance," available on amazon.com and maternity collections for Destination Maternity.
On October 28th, Lifetime will launch its new reality series The Fairy Jobmother, based on the popular British format that will follow international career specialist Hayley Taylor as she assists severely job-challenged families with her no-nonsense and tough love tactics to motivate them to get back on the payroll. Lifetime's other unscripted series includes On the Road with Austin & Santino, starring popular Project Runway alums Austin Scarlett and Santino Rice, who travel to small towns throughout the U.S. and use their distinct fashion senses to create entirely new, dream-come-true looks for women.
