Development Update: Tuesday, October 26
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

THE CREW (NBC, New!) - Joe Pokaski ("Heroes") is developing a new drama at the Peacock about a "family of distinctly different brothers on a NASCAR racing team who have their own lives and dreams, opportunities and problems -- but as a team share a singular goal to be the best." It's understood the network hopes to produce the potential series in cooperation with NASCAR. Scott Stuber, who's also developing a NASCAR-themed feature at Universal Pictures alongside director Gary Ross, is on board to executive produce with Pokaski.

MEDIUM (CBS) - The Eye has rolled back its order for the show's seventh season from 22 to 13 episodes. Said decision is likely tied to the veteran drama's steep viewership decline this season - 6.16 million viewers (and a 1.3 rating among adults 18-49) through five weeks versus 8.24 million viewers (and a 2.0 rating among adults 18-49) over the same period last season, albeit when it aired at 9:00/8:00c. That coupled with the network's bulging midseason slate ("Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior," "Mad Love," "Chaos," etc.) and all five of its freshman series being asked for 18-22 episodes makes the decision not much of a surprise.

THE NAKED TRUTH (HBO, New!) - Clyde Phillips ("Dexter") is set to bring the Israeli series, about "the officers investigating the disappearance of a teenage girl from a prominent family," to the U.S. for the pay channel. Lionsgate Television, where Phillips's overall deal is based, is behind the project, which is likened to fellow Israeli-import "In Treatment" in that it's "set entirely in an interrogation room and the adjacent room, separated by a dividing wall." Phillips however plans several changes, "including opening up the action to other areas of the precinct but keeping it indoors." Alon Aranya will executive produce alongside Phillips while original creators Uri and Benny Barbash are apparently not involved.

OFF THE MAP (ABC) - The Alphabet is understood to have asked for five additional scripts of the midseason drama, about "a tiny town in the South American jungle which has one understaffed, under-stocked medical clinic." Said order brings its bonus script total to six. Thus far however ABC has only greenlit production on seven episodes, meaning the extra scripts could ultimately bring its season total to 13 episodes.

RIDE-ALONG (FOX) - The network has reportedly given the midseason effort a new moniker: "The Chicago Code." The series, billed as "an unpredictable ride through the streets of Chicago and navigating crime and corruption with the most respected - and notorious - cops in the city," comes from creator Shawn Ryan.

TERRA NOVA (FOX) - Landon Liboiron, Naomi Scott and Alana Mansour have all been cast in the upcoming drama, which "follows an ordinary family embarking on an incredible journey back in time to prehistoric Earth as a small part of a massive experiment to save the human race." They'll play the children of Jason O'Mara and Shelley Conn's characters - 17-year-old Josh (Liboiron), who also finds a father figure in Commander Frank Taylor (Stephen Lang); 15-year-old Maddy (Scott), his bright sister; and newly added Zoe (Mansour), the youngest member of the Shannon clan. Mido Hamada also stars in the pilot, which Alex Graves is directing from a script by Craig Silverstein and Kelly Marcel. 20th Century Fox Television, Chernin Entertainment, DreamWorks Television and Kapital Entertainment are co-producing.
