GREY'S ANATOMY/PRIVATE PRACTICE (ABC) - Both series have been confirmed as only producing 22 episodes this season, following extended runs in 2008-09 and 2009-10. "We are doing 22 of each," creator Shonda Rhimes posted to her Twitter account. "Cause I am tired and can't do 23 and 24."
HOMELAND INSECURITY (CBS, New!) - Rob Shalhoub and Rani Aliahmad have booked a new workplace comedy at the Eye set in the world of airport security. Said half-hour, which will be reworked as a multi-camera effort, is based on the pair's Trend Media web series of the same name. Josh Greenbaum and Ben McMillan co-wrote the original $70,000 presentation and are on board to pen the new incarnation under the supervision of David Guarascio and Moses Port. Sony Pictures Television is the studio attached with the aforementioned auspices executive producing.
MAN UP (ABC, New!) - Jack Burditt ("30 Rock") has snagged a put pilot commitment from the Alphabet for a new comedy about "a guy fighting for his manhood in a world of women." 20th Century Fox Television is behind the half-hour, which is being eyed as a potential starring vehicle for Tim Allen. Marty Adelstein, Shawn Levy and Becky Clements, via their 20th-based 21 Laps/Adelstein banner are executive producing alongside Burditt.
TRUE BLOOD (HBO) - Fiona Shaw ("Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban") is the first addition to the show's upcoming fourth season. She'll play Marnie, a new series regular, "a mousy, timid and secretly self loathing storefront medium and palm reader who is taken over by the spirit of a powerful witch." "True Blood" returns this summer.
