HGTV'S COLOR SPLASH REACHES 100TH EPISODE MILESTONE
Network Orders 26 New Episodes of the Weekly Series Featuring Designer David Bromstad
Knoxville, Tenn. [For Immediate Release - November 8, 2010] - Talented artist and designer David Bromstad's crusade for color has captivated millions of HGTV viewers for more than three years. His popular weekly series, Color Splash, wrapped production of its 100th episode in October and HGTV already has ordered 26 additional episodes for airing in 2011. While the 100th episode of the show will air in the series' regular time slot on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, Bromstad has been encouraging homeowners to be more daring with their color choices since Color Splash hit the air in March 2007.
"Our viewers have an insatiable interest in the use of color in design, and Color Splash showcases a bold approach to color that viewers find inspiring," said Jim Samples, president, HGTV. "David is a creative, fun and playful personality - a perfect fit for a series about color. Viewers love him, and we couldn't be happier with the ongoing popularity of his series."
Early this year, the network moved the production of Color Splash from San Francisco to Miami, where Bromstad makes his home. Now, inspired by timeless art deco architecture, tropical gardens and sizzling nightlife in the vibrant city, he transforms ordinary rooms and outdoor spaces into breathtaking designs.
In 2006, Bromstad got his shot at television stardom by beating nine other finalists in season one of HGTV Design Star. The network's design reality competition will enter its sixth season in 2011.
"Sometimes my path from HGTV Design Star to Color Splash seems surreal," said Bromstad. "I landed a dream job in television that I never dreamed would be going 100 episodes later. I love my work and as long as HGTV viewers enjoy what I bring to design, I'll be doing it. I don't want this dream opportunity to end."
