ONE UNRULY TEEN GETS "EMANCIPATED" AND A DOSE OF REALITY IN NEW CMT SPECIAL
One-Hour Special Featuring Therapist Stacy Kaiser Airs December 17
NASHVILLE - December 2, 2010 - One rebellious teen finds out if she can make it on her own when she gets EMANCIPATED in a new one-hour special airing Friday, December 17 at 8:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m., ET/PT, between season finale episodes of WORLD'S STRICTEST PARENTS. EMANCIPATED follows the story of Lorin, a privileged sixteen year-old from the New Orleans, La. area who believes she does not need the support from her parents and elects for a trial emancipation. With only the bare necessities and guidance from therapist Stacy Kaiser, Lorin is given three weeks of freedom, and goes on an emotional journey of self discovery.
Knowing only that she is a finalist for this experiment, Lorin learns she has been selected and is given ten minutes to pack her bags and say goodbye to her family. Leaving behind her Range Rover, credit cards and posh surroundings, Lorin is handed the keys to an unfurnished rental house, without electricity, and given a small amount of money for her basic needs. Having never been on her own, Lorin is driven by sheer determination and stubbornness with her only direction provided by Kaiser and the rules she has set forth. During the three week period, Lorin learns the harsh reality of a life without the luxuries she is used to.
