By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

THE ASSISTANTS (CBS, New!) - Tucker Cawley ("Everybody Loves Raymond") is returning to the Eye with a pilot order for a new comedy about "four assistants who toil for a celebrity couple." The multi-camera project is set up at CBS Television Studios with Cawley executive producing alongside Eric and Kim Tannenbaum of the studio-based The Tannenbaum Co.

PLAYBOY (NBC) - Amber Heard ("Zombieland") is reportedly in talks to star in the pilot, a drama set at the Playboy Club in Chicago in 1963. She'd play Maureen, "a new hire at the club, originally an orphan from Fort Wayne, an inquisitive young woman with an untethered sexuality and a dark past." Alan Taylor is directing the 20th Century Fox Television-based project from a script by Chad Hodge. Imagine Television's Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo also serve as executive producers.

THE REMEMBERER (CBS) - Ed Redlich and John Bellucci's drama, about "a female NYPD detective who possesses the special ability to remember everything and, although a gift in her job, it's also a curse in her personal life," has once again been ordered to pilot. The Eye previously greenlit the hour over a year ago but ultimately tabled the project due to difficulties in casting the lead. Niels Arden Oplev ("The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo") is on board to direct the pilot, which is based on J. Robert Lennon's short story of the same name. Sony Pictures Television and CBS Television Studios are co-producing. Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly are executive producing alongside Redlich and Bellucci.

TEEN WOLF (MTV) - The cable channel revealed at its upfront presentation in New York today that its update of the franchise will premiere Sunday, June 5 following the MTV Movie Awards. The network used the same strategy to roll out "The Hard Times of R.J. Berger" last year. As for "Hard Times," the half-hour comedy is expected to return Monday, March 28. Meanwhile, Mike Judge's "Beavis & Butt-Head" reportedly will make a return to the small screen however no other specifics were given.

TWO AND A HALF MEN (CBS) - Charlie Sheen released a lengthy statement earlier today regarding his current personal foibles, which led production to be halted on the series. "I have a lot of work to do to be able to return the support I have received from so many people," he said. "I want to say 'thank-you' to my fellow cast members, the crew of "Two and a Half Men," and everyone at CBS and Warner Bros., especially Les Moonves and Bruce Rosenblum for their concern and support. And to my fans, your good wishes have touched me very much. Like Errol Flynn, who had to put down his sword on occasion, I just want to say, 'thank-you.'"

WILLIAM & KATE (Lifetime) - Camilla Luddington, Jonathan Moore, Richard Reid and Victoria Tennant are set to star alongside Nico Evers-Swindell and Ben Cross in original movie, about Prince William and Kate Middleton's modern-day fairy tale romance. Luddington and Swindell will play the soon-to-be-wed couple with Cross as Prince Charles and Tennant as Celia, the woman who gives middle-class Kate etiquette lessons. Moore and Reid then are set as William's friends Frederick Sellers and Guy Pelly, respectively. Production on the fast-tracked project is expected to begin next week for an April premiere. Mark Rosman is directing from a script by Nancey Silvers for Frank Konigsberg's The Konigsberg Co.
