GMC, America's Favorite Network for Uplifting Music and Entertainment, Announces Casting Call for New Original Series "America Sings" Hosted By Drew Lachey
Weekly Series Premieres on GMC This Summer
LOS ANGELES, April 7, 2011 -- GMC, America's favorite network for uplifting music and entertainment announced today, a nationwide call for entries for their new original series, "America Sings," hosted by multi-platinum recording artist, Dancing with the Stars winner and performer Drew Lachey. "America Sings" is an uplifting, one-of-a-kind victory of voices celebration that will highlight North America's most talented singing groups and the communities they are from. Each group will sing to win America's vote. "America Sings" will air weekly, beginning this June.
The "America Sings" call for entries is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for singing groups of any age from across North America to showcase their talents on national television. Singing groups featured on the television series are eligible for a chance to win $10,000. Thousands of hopefuls ranging from a wide variety of musical genres, including a capella, barbershop, choral, doo wop, gospel and more are encouraged to enter. All singing groups are welcome. Church choirs, school music ensembles, street corner duets and singing groups from colleges, universities, community centers and the military may enter.
Each group is asked to provide a video of a performance of one song that best showcases their talent. Entry information is available online at www.watchgmctv.com/sing

Drew Lachey is best known for his pop group 98 Degrees, which he joined with his brother Nick in 1995. Drew took home first place on the second season of ABC's Dancing with the Stars, beating 10 other dance couples. He served as co-host of Dancing with the Stars the following season and as host of ABC's Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann. He also hosted HGTV's $250,000 Dollar Challenge. Drew has appeared on several TV shows, including As the World Turns, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica and on Broadway, in the musicals RENT and Monty Python's SPAMALOT.
"America Sings" is produced by Genco Entertainment. Brad Lachman is executive producer. Co-executive producers are Bill Bracken and Mark Waxman.
