The Style Network Announces New Initiative to Expand Hispanic Presence on the Network and Pursue "Latina Modern Mom" Viewers

Comprehensive Research Study Highlights Remarkable Fit Between Aspirations of Hispanic Women 18-49 and Overall Mission of Style

Style Announces Two New Docu-Series in Development Featuring Hispanic Families

Los Angeles, CA, April 12, 2011 - The Style Network announces today a new comprehensive initiative aimed at pursuing acculturated Hispanic Women 18-49 viewers. The announcement comes on the heels of the network's comprehensive research study to learn more about this distinct demo, which indicates a strong correlation between the aspirations and qualities of this audience with the makeover programming that is at the heart of the Style brand. The "Latina Modern Mom" initiative includes new pilots in development, "Single With 7" and "The Riveras," as well as expanded casting calls for some of the network's popular existing franchises to feature more Hispanic families and women.

"The 'Latina Modern Mom' is a dynamic, smart, optimistic, vibrant woman - a perfect Style viewer," said Salaam Coleman Smith, President, The Style Network. "We are excited to announce this robust initiative to appeal to and connect with this important group of women who very much align with the network's brand."

Style recently completed an in-depth study of Women 18-49 that included an exploration of acculturated Hispanic women in the demo. The study found that they are nearly twice as likely as other women to say they follow the latest trends and are more likely to be focused on fashion and appearance, and to look for fashion information on TV. This group is also more intently focused on creativity and personal transformation, with three-quarters saying that "I am always trying to make my life better." These qualities largely parallel Style's transformational programming objectives, as well as the network's "Before Meets After" brand mantra. The research also supports that acculturated Hispanic women are highly people-focused, with friendships often spanning generations, and that that they are more interested than other groups in watching shows about parenting and family life on TV, which is also an important focus of Style's programming offerings.

As part of the new initiative, Style is developing two new series that have a targeted focus on the "Latina Modern Mom" audience. "Single With 7" is a powerful and inspiring reality family drama centered around 29-year-old Yesi Ortiz, an afternoon DJ at L.A.'s Power 106 FM radio. Yesi is much more than a DJ however - she is also "mom" to her seven nieces and nephews who were put into foster care when her sister was sent to prison. One by one, Yesi has gained legal custody of her family and is determined to keep them together at any cost, while also pursuing her own career goals and personal aspirations. Set in colorful Queens, NY, "The Riveras" is a docu-series that follows the playfully unfiltered lives a Puerto Rican family who own two neighborhood dance studios. While building their dream for future generations of the family to carry on, the Rivera sisters - Jorday, Daziann and Tiffany - must focus their efforts on mutual goals while also pursuing their individual passions and lives. Style also plans to expand the network's casting calls to actively pursue more Hispanic families and women across its core franchises such as "Clean House" and "How Do I Look?"

Hispanic households currently comprise 9% of Style's total household audience with some of the network's original series having a larger than average Hispanic audience, including "Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane" and "Whose Wedding Is It Anyway?"
