Trio Added to NBC's 2011-12 Season Roster; "Parenthood," "Harry's Law" Renewed
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- NBC has added three more dramas to its 2011-12 roster: "The Playboy Club," "Grimm" and "Awake" (formerly known as "R.E.M.").

The trio join yesterday's pick-ups "Prime Suspect," "Smash," "Up All Night" and "Whitney."

[UPDATED 6:08 PM!] Meanwhile, sources also indicate "Parenthood" and "Harry's Law" have been renewed.

Jason Isaacs toplines "Awake," about a police detective who - following a horrible car accident - finds himself living in two different realities: one in which his son (Dylan Minnette) lives, another in which his wife (Laura Allen) lives. Kyle Killen penned the 20th Century Fox Television-based hour, which also stars B.D. Wong, Cherry Jones, Michaela McManus, Steve Harris and Wilmer Valderrama.

"Playboy," from writer Chad Hodge, is a period drama set at the famed club of the same name in 1963 Chicago. The ensemble cast includes Amber Heard, David Krumholtz, Eddie Cibrian, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, John Hoogenakker, Laura Benanti, Leah Cudmore, Naturi Naughton, Sean Maher and Wes Ramsey. 20th Century Fox Television likewise produces.

David Giuntoli stars in "Grimm," about a police detective who discovers fairy tale creatures live among us and is tasked with defending humans from these mythical beasts. Bitsie Tulloch, Kate Burton, Reggie Lee, Russell Hornsby, Sasha Roiz and Silas Weir Mitchell also star in the project, from Universal Media Studios and creators David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf.

[UPDATED 6:39 PM!] Not moving forward are drama pilots "Wonder Woman," from David E. Kelley; "A. Mann's World," from Michael Patrick King; "Metro," from Stephen Gaghan; "17th Precinct," from Ronald D. Moore; and "Reconstruction," from Joshua Brand and Peter Horton.
