CBS Renews "Rules of Engagement," The CW Piles on Reality
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- CBS has renewed the last of its bubble series, ordering a sixth season of "Rules of Engagement."

Said decision completes the Eye's returning class for the 2011-12 season as "Blue Bloods," "Criminal Minds," "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," "CSI: Miami," "The Good Wife," "Hawaii Five-0," "Mike & Molly," "The Mentalist," "NCIS: Los Angeles" are just waiting for a formal pickup tomorrow as part of its upfront presentation.

On the newcomer front, the network has passed on the Minnie Driver-led drama pilot "Hail Mary" as well as the David Nutter-helmed "The Doctor," snapping the director's streak of 16 pilots in a row going to series.

As for its new comedies, CBS is mulling additional pickups beyond "How to Be a Gentleman" and "Two Broke Girls" for midseason with Rob Schneider's untitled half-hour reportedly leading the pack. The network's other comedy pilots include "The Assistants," "Herd Mentality," "Home Game," "Home Grown," "Peter Knight Project" and "Vince Uncensored."

Meanwhile, The CW has closed in on two more reality projects: the previously announced "The Frame" and the newly unveiled "Re-Modeled." The duo will join previous reality pickup "H8R."

Armoza International Media and Shed Media are behind "The Frame," which the former company details as follows: "A ground-breaking television and internet-based reality show broadcast 24/7 from the contestants' homes and enabling their participation from anywhere around the country. 8 couples are placed inside a fixed camera angle shot in their homes. During 30 days they will compete in a reality show, hoping to be the last ones to stay in The Frame. They cannot under any circumstances leave the frame. If they leave the frame - they're out of the game." Shed's Jennifer O'Connell and Nick Emmerson are the executive producers.

"Re-Modeled" follows veteran modeling agent Paul Fisher - whose clients have included Naomi Campbell, Stephanie Seymour, Carre Otis, Brooke Burke, Brooke Burns, Monica Belluci, Kimora Lee Simmons, Nicky Hilton and Djimon Hounsou - as he runs The Network, a company which aims to connect modeling agencies from around the world under one umbrella. Allison Grodner's Sony Pictures Television-based Fly on the Wall Entertainment is behind the project, which she'll executive produce alongside Amy Palmer.

Said pickups complete the netlet's 2011-12 season orders as dramas "Awakening," "Cooper & Stone," "Danni Lowinski" and "Heavenly" won't be moving forward.
