GRAMMY-AWARD WINNING STAR MIRANDA LAMBERT JOINS LIVE RESULTS SEASON FINALE ON NBC'S 'THE VOICE' IN DUET WITH FINALIST DIA FRAMPTON ON JUNE 29
Guest Star Lambert Appears on Hit Vocal Competition Series That Features Husband Blake Shelton as Musician Coach
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - June 24, 2011 - NBC's "The Voice" will kick up the entertainment appeal of the hit vocal competition series by featuring Grammy Award-winning star Miranda Lambert in a duet with finalist Dia Frampton on the live results show and season finale on Wednesday, June 29 (8-9 p.m. ET). Lambert -- the wife of Blake Shelton, one of the show's musician coaches -- is a multi-award winning and platinum-selling country music recording artist.
The announcements were made by Paul Telegdy, Executive Vice President, Alternative Programming, NBC and Universal Media Studios.
"Miranda is an amazing artist and it will be fascinating to see her blend her talents with those of Dia," said Telegdy. "This special duet is what 'The Voice' represents to our audience. Together, Miranda and Blake, who represent a true power couple in country music, will help provide a memorable finale for our first season."
"I am thrilled to perform on my favorite new show," said Lambert. "It's been a joy watching my husband grow so attached to his team. Truthfully, I am a little jealous that I am not a coach myself. I can't wait to be a part of it."
The other three finalists are Javier Colon, Beverly McClellan and Vicci Martinez, who will perform on June 28 with the winner announced on Wednesday, June 29 (8-9 p.m. ET).
With three platinum albums in a row, Lambert recently added CMT Female Video of the Year to her ever-expanding list of accolades which also included Academy of Country Music's Top Female Vocalist of the Year, Single of the Year, Song of the Year and Video of the Year for "The House That Built Me".
In 2010, Lambert was nominated for a record-setting nine CMA awards and took home the trophies for three of those, including Album of the Year ("Revolution"), Female Vocalist of the Year and Video of the Year for "The House That Built Me." She received her first AMA nomination for Favorite Female Country Artist and won her first fan-voted CMT Award, for Female Video of the Year. Earlier in the year, she scored ACM wins for Album of the Year ("Revolution"), Female Vocalist of the Year and Video of the Year ("White Liar"). Her second single from "Revolution," "The House That Built Me," held the #1 position for four straight weeks. It followed "White Liar," which was Lambert's first career #1 single.
Lambert is currently recording her fourth album to be released Fall 2011 and headlining the "Revolution Continues" tour.
"The Voice" showcases musician coaches Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green and Shelton. "The Voice" is an innovative vocal competition series modeled after Holland's top-rated vocal talent discovery show, "The Voice of Holland." The series is hosted by Carson Daly and features the musician coaches working through the various phases of the competition with only the most talented vocalists. The show's second season will air mid-season Mondays (8-10 p.m. ET).
In addition, "The Voice" continues to push the boundaries between broadcast and online by bringing social media conversations to the on-air show. Bridging the gap between on-air and online is Social Media Correspondent Alison Haislip ("Attack of the Show!"), who makes regular appearances during the live broadcasts. Haislip engages fans and connects them to artists and coaches from "The Voice Social Media Room" via Facebook, Twitter, NBC.com and NBC Live. In the live shows, fans who use #TheVoice or tweet to the show, coaches or artists' official handles may see their tweets appear in the lower third of the screen during cutaways during the live show.
