Contest Kicks-off June 28 and Seeks Food Lovers with Kitchens That Do Not Match Their Passion; One Lucky Winner to Receive a Complete Kitchen Transformation
And a Trip for Two to the New York City Wine & Food Festival
NEW YORK - June 28, 2011 - Think you've got the worst kitchen in America? DIY Network, the go-to destination for home improvement television, and Food Network Magazine, the No. 1 selling epicurean title on the newsstand, are teaming up for the second year to uncover kitchens in desperate need of a redo. Beginning June 28, food lovers can upload an image or video to DIYNetwork.com and explain why their kitchen is cramping their style. The homeowner selected as having the "Worst Kitchen in America" will receive a full kitchen makeover courtesy of DIY Network and Food Network Magazine.
"DIY Network and Food Network Magazine fully appreciate the need to update your kitchen, especially one that is outdated, improperly equipped, rundown or odd-looking," says DIY Network host Matt Blashaw. "We're thrilled to be helping another foodie to create the ultimate space."
"A well-designed kitchen can really inspire your cooking," says Food Network Magazine editor in chief Maile Carpenter. "We feature star chefs' kitchens every month, and it is amazing to see how much thought they've put into planning every inch of the space. This contest is a chance for home cooks to get the kitchen of their dreams."
Food Network Magazine readers and DIY Network viewers have until August 8 to vie for a chance to win the ultimate cook's kitchen. Hosted by licensed contractor Matt Blashaw, the entire makeover will be documented in a one-hour DIY Network special, "Worst Kitchen in America," premiering in January 2012, and featured in the January/February 2012 issue of Food Network Magazine. In addition, the winner will receive a trip for two to attend the New York City Wine & Food Festival, including a meet and greet with Food Network host and Chef Anne Burrell.
