GLEE (FOX) - Idina Menzel is set to return for the show's third season. She'll reprise her role as Shelby, the birth mother of Lea Michele's character - and adoptive mother to Quinn and Puck's baby girl - for as many as 10-12 episodes. Shelby returns from New York to Ohio to "join William McKinley High School as a new teacher and complicating things for Rachel as well as former flame Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison)."

NIKITA (The CW) - Dillon Casey ("Torchwood: Miracle Day") has scored a recurring role on the show's upcoming sophomore run. He'll play Sean Pierce, "a badass Army special-ops officer assigned by Oversight to both retrieve the stolen black box from Nikita (Maggie Q) and Michael (Shane West)." Season two rolls out on its new night, Fridays at 8:00/7:00c, on September 23.

UNTITLED CYNTHIA MORT/MARY KARR PROJECT (HBO, New!) - Cynthia Mort ("Tell Me You Love Me") and author Mary Karr ("The Liars' Club") are set to team for a potential comedy at the pay channel about "a family's attempt to become whole again, while trying to reconcile their dark and complex past and will center on a writer in New York with flashbacks to her growing up in Texas with a drinking problem." Said half-hour - to be executive produced by Mort, Scott Rudin and Gail Lyon with Karr as a co-executive producer - is based on Karr's life.
