[07/21/11 - 10:58 PM] Development Update: Thursday, July 21 By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC) |
|
LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:
Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!
CHARLIE'S ANGELS (ABC) - Robert Wagner, who had been tapped to voice the title character, has bowed out of the project. "Due to his scheduling conflicts, Robert Wagner will need to step away from his duties as Charlie on Charlie's Angels," ABC and producer Sony Pictures Television told TVGuide.com. Wagner's voice wasn't used in the pilot screened for buyers earlier this year. John Forsythe originated said role for the 1976-1981 series and feature films.
HALLELUJAH (ABC) - Co-star Jesse Martin has inked a one-year talent holding deal with the network and ABC Studios. The pact calls for the duo to develop a new project for the actor or cast him in one of their existing properties. Said development comes as "Hallelujah" creator Marc Cherry works on retooling the project, which would presumably have Martin reprise his role.
INNOCENT (TNT) - Bill Pullman ("Torchwood: Miracle Day") is set to topline the telefilm, based on Scott Turow's sequel to his blockbuster hit "Presumed Innocent." He'll play Rusty Sabich, a judge charged with the murder of his late wife. Mike Robe is writing, directing and executive producing the project, one of six films planned for the network's upcoming "Tuesday Night Mystery" franchise.
PRIME SUSPECT (NBC) - Kenny Johnson ("Saving Grace") has joined the cast of the upcoming drama. He'll play the boyfriend of Maria Bello's character, taking over for Toby Stephens from the original pilot. No other details were given. The newcomer bows Thursday, September 23.
WE HAVE YOUR HUSBAND (Lifetime, New!) - Teri Polo ("Man Up!") and Esai Morales ("Caprica") are set to star in a new docudrama at the cable channel "based on the true story of American Jayne Valseca (Polo) and her fight to free her husband Eduardo (Morales) who spent seven and a half months at the hands of brutal kidnappers in Mexico." Eric Bross has been tapped to direct the project from a script by J.B. White based on the book of the same name by Jayne Valseca and Mark Ebner. Tim Johnson and Jean Abounader are executive producing for Johnson Production Group and SC Pictures.
