[07/28/11 - 10:09 PM] Development Update: Thursday, July 28 By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC) |
|
LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:
Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!
CHUCK (NBC) - Craig Kilborn has been tapped as the latest villain for the show's swan song. He'll play Roger Bale, "a charming yet conniving investor who's stolen money from some of the world's most dangerous people." Said character will make his first appearance in the season premiere, due Friday, October 21, alongside the previously announced Mark Hamill.
PARKS & RECREATION (NBC) - Patricia Clarkson ("Easy A") has been tapped as Tammy 1, Ron Swanson's (Nick Offerman) first ex-wife, in two upcoming episodes of the comedy. Megan Mullally previously recurred as Tammy 2, Ron's second ex-wife. Clarkson then will make her first appearance in the show's September 23 season premiere.
RICOCHET (TNT) - John Corbett, Julie Benz, Gary Cole and Kelly Overton have all been cast in the project, the second entry in the network's recently announced "Tuesday Night Mystery" movie franchise. The project, based on Sandra Brown's novel of the same name, follows two homicide detectives - Duncan Hatcher (Corbett) and DeeDee Bowen (Overton) - who find their careers (and lives) on the line when they get caught up in a case of murder and betrayal in high-society Savannah. Benz plays Elise Laird, a dishy damsel-in-distress who's married to corrupt Judge Cato Laird (Cole), that Duncan falls for. Production on the film begins next week in New Orleans. It's understood Benz's involvement is the result of a reduced status on the new CBS drama "A Gifted Man." The actress was a series regular on the pilot - playing the sister of lead Patrick Wilson - but will instead recur in the series as a guest star.
THE SECRET CIRCLE (The CW) - Richard Hatem has bowed out as an executive producer on the freshman drama. It's understood said decision is due to creative differences with showrunner Kevin Williamson. Hatem will instead shift to development as part of a pending overall deal with Warner Bros Television. Hatem's departure comes on the heels of the exit of Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain, who opted to depart when Williamson came aboard.
