MTV GOES UNDER LOCKDOWN WITH THE SERIES PREMIERE OF "CUFF'D," ON MONDAY AUGUST 29 AT 11PM ET/PT
The Half-hour Documentary Series Provides Viewers with a Fly-on-the-Wall Perspective of What Happens Right After Police Officers Arrest Young Offenders
New York, NY (August 15, 2011) - MTV is bringing viewers an all-new series that focuses on the most intense moments some young people may ever experience. Premiering Monday August 29th at 11pm ET/PT, "Cuff'd" is the half-hour documentary series that provides viewers with a fly-on-the-wall perspective of what happens on the ride to the precinct after young offenders are arrested. Serving as a cautionary tale, "Cuff'd" takes viewers front and center as these young people begin to process the consequences of their actions.
"We are honored to work with MTV and to use 'Cuff'd' as a platform to reach young people at one of the most precarious times in their lives and to make them aware of the consequences involved with criminal offenses" said Officer Craig Sipple, of the Upland Police Department. "Our hope is that other viewers will watch the show and avoid the behavior that has led the youth offenders featured to being taken into custody."
Each episode of "Cuff'd" will feature approximately six different young perpetrators from distinct regions of the country engaging with their arresting officers as they ride in police cruisers on the way to central booking. These interactions are both revealing and intense, as youth offenders open up about their lives and process the mistakes that have brought them to this critical point - while police officers offer advice and guidance. Although most of the suspects featured are first-time offenders - the uncertainty of their predicaments often creates deeply emotional, dramatic, and humorous responses that serve as windows into the lives of young people who have veered off-course.
Michael Scheniker and Rob Dorfman serve as Executive Producer for Down In Front Entertainment. "Cuff'd" is Executive Produced by Dave Sirulnick, Marshall Eisen George McTeague and Nomi Leidner for the network. The Executive in Charge of Production of series for MTV is Jonathan Mussman.
