THE ASSET (FOX, New!) - Josh Friedman ("Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles") has snagged a put pilot order from the network for a new drama "set in the New York office of the CIA, which centers on a female agent." 20th Century Fox Television, where Friedman's overall deal is based, is behind the project. (Deadline.com)
BEAUTIFUL GIRLS (The CW, New!) - Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain ("The Vampire Diaries") have booked a potential drama at the netlet billed as "a young, salacious soap dealing with sexual politics and intrigue set against the backdrop of the beauty industry at a cosmetics company." Warner Bros. Television is behind the project, which the duo will write and executive produce. (Deadline.com)
CRAVE (Food Network) - The Troy Johnson-hosted series, previously set to roll out on Monday, June 20, will now launch on Monday, August 29 at 8:30/7:30c. Here's how the channel details the half-hour: "Hosted by food critic and journalist Troy Johnson, Crave takes viewers on a cross-country journey for the most perfect versions of the foods he craves. Enthralled by the culinary wonders surrounding him, Troy will travel anywhere and try anything in pursuit of his obsession. Whether it's pizza and pork or fried chicken and ice cream, Troy is on a quest to discover foods that make his mouth water while taking viewers on his nation-wide expedition to indulge in his food fascinations."
HAUNTED HIGH (Syfy, New!) - Danny Trejo, M.C. Gainey, Charisma Carpenter, Marc Donato and relative newcomer Jonathan Baron are set to star in a new original movie at the network about "a New England private school that is visited by a demonic dead headmaster." Gainey will play said headmaster with Baron as his heroic grandson, Donato as the school's bad boy, Carpenter as the sexy librarian and Trejo as the janitor who is secretly the kick-but guardian of the school. Jeffrey Lando is directing from a script by Paul A. Birkett and Anthony C. Ferrante with Kenneth Badish and Daniel Lewis serving as executive producers and Griff Furst producing. Production is underway in New Orleans. (THR.com)
SWEET GENIUS (Food Network, New!) - The cable channel will roll out its latest competition series on Thursday, September 22 at 10:00/9:00c. Here's how they detail the project: "Sweet Genius is a sugar-packed competition series that challenges America's premiere pastry chefs to create magical and inventive desserts given inspiration, surprise ingredients and a finite amount of time. The chefs must compete in three unique pastry challenges judge by Ron Ben-Israel - the Sweet Genius himself - who will critique their work and determine who will receive the $10,000 cash prize."
UNTITLED RAND RAVICH PROJECT (ABC, New!) - Rand Ravich ("Life") has received a put pilot commitment for a potential drama about "the lives of Navy SEALs and their families." Said effort is set up at Warner Bros Television-based Jerry Bruckheimer Television with Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and Ravich's producing partner Far Shariat serving as executive producers and KristieAnne Reed as a co-executive producer. AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Goran Visnjic ("ER") has booked a four-episode arc on ABC's "Pan Am" as "a sexy Yugoslavian immigrant torn between his communist Eastern Bloc homeland and the potential freedoms and opportunities of the West" (EW.com); plus "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel" alums Charisma Carpenter and James Marsters will reunite on "Supernatural" in an episode billed as "'Bewitched' gone wrong" (TVLine.com).
