New York, NY - August 23, 2011 - Once considered a nonacademic pursuit at college campuses all over the world, Beer Pong is a full fledged competitive subculture among young professionals in the United States. Premiering Thursday, September 1 at 11:00 PM ET/PT on Spike TV, "Last Cup: Road to the World Series of Beer Pong" is a documentary presented by Academy Award nominated executive producer Morgan Spurlock that takes viewers deep inside the competition and the fraternity shared by serious beer pong players nationwide as they battle for the $20,000 prize at the annual "World Series of Beer Pong."
A strategic pursuit that is less about the drinking as it is about the skill and thrill of victory, "Last Cup: Road to the World Series of Beer Pong" introduces its audience to some of the key figures in the Beer Pong community: from tournament organizers and founders Billy Gaines and Duncan Carroll, who made their vision a reality in 2006, to the top competitors in the game, including Iceman, a beer vendor for the Milwaukee Brewers, Tone, a NJ resident whose brash attitude makes him a polarizing figure in the beer pong world, and Sean Foster, a computer programmer who employs statistical analysis, as well as geometry and physics, to try and improve his technique. The documentary follows these competitors, and several others, as they experience the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat while vying for the 2nd "World Series of Beer Pong," which took place in 2007.
