truTV Calls for More "South Beach Tow" as Series Prepares for Wednesday Night's Summer Finale
Hit Show from Executive Producer Jennifer Lopez's Nuyorican Productions and Bodega Pictures to Return in Early 2012
As the hit series South Beach Tow nears the end of its summer run, truTV is preparing to dispatch 13 additional episodes. The series, which marks truTV's first collaboration with Jennifer Lopez's Nuyorican Productions and Bodega Pictures, has been an especially strong performer for the network. The summer finale of South Beach Tow will air tomorrow night at 10 p.m. (ET/PT), while new episodes are slated to begin in early 2012.
In its first season-to-date, South Beach Tow has drawn big numbers for truTV, with 1.6 million viewers; 834,000 adults 18-49; and 497,000 men 18-49. The show has grown steadily since its July debut, with last week's episode outperforming the series premiere by 7% among adults 18-49 and 7% among men 18-49. South Beach Tow has also delivered double-digit growth for its Wednesday 10 p.m. timeslot compared to the same nights last year.
South Beach Tow centers on the family-run Tremont Towing and its affable-but-tough manager, Robert Ashenoff. In part because he's a hard-working boss, and in part because so many people in South Beach seem to think the law doesn't apply to them, Robert has turned his company into a million-dollar business. Helping him out are his six-foot-three, 300-pound son, Robbie Jr., and his wildly tattooed daughter, Christie. He also has a trio of skilled drivers - Frankie, Eddie and Jerome - each with his own unique and fascinating personality. With plenty of confrontations, hilarious interactions and a slew of unpredictable situations, there's never a dull moment.
In tomorrow night's summer finale, entitled "Memorial Day Mayhem," Robert is in the hospital with mysterious stomach pains. That leaves Robbie Jr. and Christie to run the company on the busiest weekend of the year. To make matters worse, the siblings also have to fend off a possible invasion by a rival towing company.
South Beach Tow is executive-produced by Jennifer Lopez and Simon Fields of Nuyorican Productions, as well as Benjamin Nurick, Josh Ackerman and Zachary Werner of Bodega Pictures. For truTV, Anthony Horn serves as executive in charge of production, and Jessica Shreeve is executive producer.
