DEXTER(R) - SEASON 6
Premiere: Sunday, October 2 at 9:00 PM ET/PT
1 Hour, 12 Episodes
Season 6 of DEXTER finds our favorite serial killer (series star and executive producer Michael C. Hall) one year later, feeling like his old self - renewed, re-energized and re-focused on putting deserving criminals on his table. But when he encounters a killer who carries out his objectives with religious fervor, Dexter begins to explore something he never thought he had use for - the nature of faith. As a father, Dexter constantly wrestles with what he doesn't want to pass along to his son, namely his Dark Passenger. For the first time, Dexter is forced to consider what he DOES want to pass on. Does spirituality have a place in a serial killer's world?
DEXTER stars Hall in his Golden Globe(R)- and Screen Actors Guild Award-winning role as Dexter Morgan, a complicated and conflicted blood-spatter expert for the Miami police department who moonlights as a serial killer. The series' sixth season also stars Jennifer Carpenter, Desmond Harrington, C.S. Lee, Lauren Vlez, David Zayas, and James Remar. Colin Hanks, Mos, Edward James Olmos join the cast as special guest stars this season.
WEB THERAPY
Season Finale: Tuesday, September 20 at 11 PM ET/PT
30 Minutes, 10 Episodes
WEB THERAPY stars Emmy(R) Award winner Lisa Kudrow as "Dr. Fiona Wallice," a self-professed psychotherapist who treats patients via webcam in weekly, three-minute sessions - a modality she believes more effective than the traditional 50-minute talk-a-thons heralded by other mental health professionals. However, she spends more time feigning boredom, interrupting and giving meaningless personal data than hearing her patient's issues. Her "patients" including Jane Lynch ("Glee"), Courteney Cox ("Cougar Town"), Rashida Jones ("Parks and Recreation"), and, veteran star Bob Balaban ("For Your Consideration"), among others, are given a script framework, but ad-lib their performances with riotous results. The series also delves into the doctor's personal life and features Lily Tomlin as her mother and Victor Garber ("Alias") as her husband.
DOCUMENTARIES
THE LOVE WE MAKE: PAUL MCCARTNEY AND THE CONCERT FOR NEW YORK CITY
Premiere: Saturday, September 10 at 9 PM ET/PT
THE LOVE WE MAKE chronicles Paul McCartney's poignant and cathartic journey through the streets of New York City in the aftermath of the World Trade Center's destruction. It also traces the planning and performance of the monumental benefit concert at Madison Square Garden, "The Concert for New York City," which took place less than six weeks after the terrorist attacks. Directed by iconic documentary filmmaker Albert Maysles (Gimme Shelter, Salesman, Grey Gardens) and his award-winning filmmaking partner, Bradley Kaplan (Muhammad and Larry, Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out!, Sand and Sorrow), THE LOVE WE MAKE was shot in the signature cinma vrit style that Maysles pioneered and made famous when he filmed the Beatles' first visit to America in the legendary 1964 documentary What's Happening! The Beatles in the U.S.A. Shooting once again in 16mm black & white, Maysles' camera intimately captures McCartney's personal journey to help heal the city that welcomed him with open arms in 1964.
REBIRTH
Premiere: Sunday, September 11 at 9 PM ET/PT
The result of a decade-long filmmaking sojourn, the inspirational story of REBIRTH follows the transformation of five people whose lives were forever altered on September 11, 2001 - and simultaneously tracks via unprecedented, multi-camera, time-lapse photography the minute-by-minute evolution of the memorial where the Twin Towers once rose over lower Manhattan. What emerges from the mix is a singular cinematic experience, at once emotionally intimate and spiritually exhilarating - one that provides a direct portrait of how trauma, grief, anger and chaos metamorphose into hope, connection, purpose and rebuilding, as in time, the human spirit transcends unthinkable disaster.
LIVING FOR 32
Premiere: Friday, September 16 at 8 PM ET/PT
LIVING FOR 32 focuses on the gun control issue brought to the nation's attention after the Virginia Tech campus shooting in April 2007, wherein 32 college students were killed, and 17 were wounded. One survivor, Colin Goddard, recounts his experience: describing what the students did to survive the brutal assault, and pointing out where he was shot four times by Seung-Hui Cho, and what led him to decide to volunteer for the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. Goddard wears a hidden camera into gun shows across the nation to show how easy it is for anyone to buy a gun, with no identification, no Brady background check, and cash. It's an eye-opening look at the gun control debate.
