E! SPECIAL EXAMINES HOW "TIL DEATH DO US PART" CAME MUCH TOO SOON FOR NEWLYWEDS IN "FATAL HONEYMOONS" PREMIERING WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 14 AT 9PM ET/PT
"I remember what came to my mind was just one more day. Just one more day, they would be home. It was just one more day, they would be back in our life. Just one more day and it was just ended, so quickly.'" - Jeanne Rodriquez, whose son and new daughter-in-law's honeymoon ended in tragedy.
Los Angeles, September 8, 2011 - When a couple ties the knot they usually expect a lifetime full of happy memories, exciting adventures and marital bliss. However, as showcased in the new one-hour E! Special: "Fatal Honeymoons," not all marriages have a fairytale ending. This all-new Special investigates several couples' whose dream days became horrific nightmares and includes rare footage and exclusive interviews with family members and friends who knew the ill-fated couples best. Featured stories include a California couple enjoying their Bahamian honeymoon that ended with the new bride plummeting 75 feet to her death, and the execution of newly weds by thieves in their honeymoon suite on the Caribbean isle of Antigua. Some victims never made it down the aisle, like Gladys Ricart who was shot to death on her wedding day by a jealous ex-boyfriend, who is currently serving a life sentence for murder, as she was handing out the bouquets to her bridesmaids at her home. "I just went to my knees" recalls the father of Tina Watson upon hearing the news that his daughter died tragically while scuba diving with her new husband in Australia's Great Barrier Reef on their honeymoon. Joining Tina Watson's father are experts on the mysterious case including a local reporter, prosecutor and defense attorney who weigh in on the events of the day.
These tragic tales of heartbreak, murder and untimely death bring an unwanted new meaning to the wedding tradition of something blue. E! takes an exclusive look into unfortunate ends of what was supposed to be happily-ever-after when "Fatal Honeymoons" premieres Wednesday, September 14 at 9pm ET/PT only on E!
