SHOWTIME PRESENTS "LIVING FOR 32": AN EYE-OPENING LOOK AT THE GUN CONTROL DEBATE
VIRGINIA TECH SHOOTING SURVIVOR GOES UNDERCOVER TO HELP
TIGHTEN GUN LAWS IN LIVING FOR 32
Premiering on SHOWTIME(R) on Friday, September 16th at 8 PM ET/PT
An eye-opening look at the gun control debate, LIVING FOR 32 confronts the contradictions of the nation's gun laws head on. It premieres on SHOWTIME on Friday, September 16th at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
The film profiles Colin Goddard, a survivor of the April 2007 Virginia Tech shooting. Goddard was shot four times by gunman Seung-Hui Cho, who would go on to kill 32 students and wound 17. Once he recovered, Goddard joined the Brady Campaign to Prevent Violence, created by James Brady, an anti-gun violence activist and former White House Secretary who was shot and permanently disabled after the 1981 assassination attempt of President Ronald Reagan.
We follow along as Goddard goes undercover, wearing a hidden camera to gun shows across the nation in an attempt to prove how easy it is for anyone to buy a gun, with cash and without identification, bypassing the hard-fought provisions of the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act (a.k.a. the Brady Bill) that requires a thorough Federal background check before purchasing firearms.
LIVING FOR 32 spotlights Goddard on his journey to honor the deaths of the 32 who were murdered. By raising much-needed awareness about gun control, he hopes to ultimately prevent people from gaining easy access to dangerous weapons. As he explains, "I've decided to devote this time in my life to making a difference so their memories might be honored and the damage to our society lessened."
