THROUGH A DETECTIVE'S EYES, INVESTIGATION DISCOVERY EXPLORES THE CASES THAT STILL HAUNT HOMICIDE HUNTER: LT. JOE KENDA
- New Original Series Premieres on Tuesday, October 25 at 10PM ET/PT -
(Silver Spring, MD) - Murder changes everything for those left in the wake of the crime, but what about the investigator who solves the heinous crime? Meet Lieutenant Joe Kenda, a 23-year veteran of the Colorado Springs Police Department who reveals the vivid memories of the most disturbing murders still haunting him today in Investigation Discovery's new six-part series, HOMICIDE HUNTER: LT. JOE KENDA, which world premieres on Tuesday, October 25 at 10PM ET/PT.
After more than two decades of catching killers, Lt. Kenda has memories that 13 years of retirement and even the best therapist in the country can't bury. During his tenure, Lt. Kenda and his team solved 387 homicide investigations, resulting in a 92% solve rate. In each one-hour episode of HOMICIDE HUNTER, Lt. Kenda re-opens his "Murder Books" for viewers - folders in which every detail of his murder cases is held - to revisit each case and detail the beats and process of how he solved each crime. The result is a personal journey for Lt. Kenda as he chips away at the long-suppressed nightmares that have plagued him for so long.
"I developed a heart made out of railroad steel for these moments," said Lt. Kenda. "I worried about that sometimes. This process has allowed me to come to terms with a lot of these memories. I don't want to tell these stories. I need to."
"A television critic once characterized the fictional detective Andy Sipowicz as the moral center of NYPD Blue. Now ID does one better with the real deal," said Henry Schleiff, president and general manager, Investigation Discovery. "Joe Kenda is the guy you want working on your behalf and we're proud to showcase some of his best work, including the cases that torment him to this day."
HOMICIDE HUNTER explores six of Lt. Kenda's most challenging cases, proving that most murders are not just random acts of violence. Set in Colorado, a state known for its laid back, suburban lifestyle, these murders are all the more compelling because they could have happened to anybody.
HOMICIDE HUNTER: LT. JOE KENDA is produced by ITV Studios and Jason Sklaver is executive producer. For Investigation Discovery, Thomas Cutler is executive producer, Sara Kozak is senior vice president of production and Henry Schleiff is president and general manager.
