SYFY GREENLIGHTS NEW REALITY SERIES DREAM MACHINES AND SECOND SEASONS OF HOLLYWOOD TREASURE AND HAUNTED COLLECTOR FOR 2012
NEW YORK - September 20, 2011 - Syfy is ramping up its original reality programming slate for 2012 by picking up the new one-hour series, Dream Machines, for six episodes. Syfy has also ordered a six-episode second season of Hollywood Treasure and a 12-episode second season of Haunted Collector. All three series are expected to air during the second quarter of 2012.
The newest entry to Syfy's lineup of unscripted originals, Dream Machines will follow Florida-based brothers Marc and Shannon Parker as they take the most imaginative vehicles ever seen in movies and TV shows and engineer them into realities on road. From The Dark Night's "Bat Pod" to the "Light Cycle" from Tron, there's no design too fantastical -- or even impossible -- for the brothers to handle, and they'll stop at nothing to create these one-of-a-kind "dream machines" for celebrities, collectors, and -- of course -- themselves. Produced by Triage Entertainment with Steve Kroopnick and Stu Schreiberg executive producing, each episode will present a new client and design challenge for the imaginative Parker brothers.
"We are excited to add another new unscripted series to our line-up, Dream Machines, which will showcase how two brothers combine their skills and their imaginations to bring to life dream vehicles from iconic sci-fi films, as well as custom vehicles never-before-imagined," said Tim Krubsack, Senior Vice President, Alternative Programming, Syfy. "We're seeing great success with our increased unscripted slate, with our viewers embracing shows like Hollywood Treasure, which appeals to the sci-fi collector mindset, and the paranormal series Haunted Collector."
Hollywood Treasure is a documentary-reality series that delves into the fascinating world of collecting showbiz and pop culture memorabilia, including science fiction and fantasy props and costumes. The series follows Joe Maddalena, owner of Profiles in History and the world's largest auctioneer of original movie, television and pop culture collectibles. Some of Joe's previous finds include the Wicked Witch of the West's hat from The Wizard of Oz and the vintage Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car. Joe recently worked with Debbie Reynolds to auction off her amazing estate of film costume and prop memorabilia. In the new episodes, Joe continues his quest to hunt down some of the most iconic Hollywood collectibles of our time, including his holy grail -- the lost pair of ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz.
Documentary-reality series Haunted Collector explores how ghosts and spirits can inhabit more than just homes and buildings -- they can also live in objects. John Zaffis and his family are renowned paranormal investigators, tracking down haunted items like paintings, guns, jewelry and dolls. Once identified, at the client's behest the items are collected and stored in John's museum, helping his clients bring normalcy back to their lives.
