HERE WE GO, LET'S START THE PARTY, CHOP IT UP LIKE IT'S KARATE!... DISNEY XD ORDERS 2nd SEASON OF NO. 1 ORIGINAL SERIES "KICKIN' IT"
Disney XD has ordered a sophomore season of its top-rated original series "Kickin' It." Since its June 2011 premiere, the martial arts-themed sitcom accounts for the network's Top 3 live-action telecasts in Kids 6-14, Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14. In addition, the July 25 episode is the network's No. 1 live-action telecast ever in Boys 6-14, Boys 6-11 and Boys 9-14 (source: NTI, U.S. ratings, most current). Production will resume in Hollywood in December for a 2012 premiere. "Kickin' It" follows a crew of lovable misfits determined to beat the odds at the Bobby Wasabi Martial Arts Academy.
Created and executive-produced by veteran producer Jim O'Doherty ("Grounded for Life," "3rd Rock from the Sun"), the multi-camera series stars Jason Earles, world class martial artist Leo Howard, Mateo Arias, Dylan Riley Snyder, Olivia Holt and Alex Christian Jones. Joey Scott ("Growing Pains") serves as producer.
A group of underdogs from the Bobby Wasabi Martial Arts Academy meet hotshot skater Jack when he saves their lunch during a cafeteria food fight with his black belt skills. When he literally flies through the wall of the dojo in a perfect martial arts stance, the gang know they have found the one person who can restore glory to their struggling dojo. Jack reluctantly joins and teaches his new crew about confidence, karate and how to just plain kick it. This ragtag crew soon realizes their newfound friendship will take them places they never quite imagined, and that united, they can become unstoppable.
The series is produced by It's A Laugh Productions, Inc. "Kickin' It" airs regularly on Monday nights and carries a TV-Y7 parental guideline.
