SOCIAL MEDIA DARLINGS "JUNK GYPSIES" BRING REBELLIOUS DESIGN STYLE TO NEW HGTV SERIES
NEW YORK, N.Y. [For Immediate Release - September 21, 2011] With their self-described "hippie flair and southern-fried cowgirl pride," Texas designers Amie Sikes and Jolie Sikes-Smith will bring their signature eclectic style to HGTV in the new weekly series, Junk Gypsies. Beginning today on HGTV's Facebook page, the Sikes sisters' large and passionate social media fan base--fellow design rebels who first discovered them on gypsyville.com - can see a special sneak peek video of the sisters in action. The series will sneak peek on HGTV on Sunday, November 27, at 7 p.m. ET/PT.
Amie and Jolie, whose clientele includes country music stars and Hollywood actors, describe their design approach as raucous, rowdy and rebellious. During the series, they will engage in spirited searches for roadside treasures to create the quintessential Junk Gypsies look - an elegant mix of colorful flea market finds and funky vintage pieces.
"We believe in using 'decadent junk' to create fun, vibrant styles," said Amie. "We can't wait to show HGTV viewers how to transform found items into personalized decor that's very unique and budget friendly."
In the premiere episode, Amie and Jolie meet with clients, Rusty and Melissa Clampit, a busy couple with two children and a 300-acre working ranch. The homeowners look to the Junk Gypsies to transform their uninspired living room into a space that is ideal for the family and for entertaining friends.
To prepare for the makeover, Amie and Jolie visit their favorite second-hand stores in search of the perfect Junk Gypsy finds: worn furniture with great structure, aged bookcases with lots of character and colorful antique artwork that will add charm to the space. They complete the room redesign by repurposing the found items, including an old Sunday school table that they personalize with the Clampit family's cattle brand insignia. The enchanting new room is filled with bright dcor, inventive storage solutions and a unique design style that the family loves.
"The Clampit's living room now has the Junk Gypsies' spirit! I could not have been happier with the way the living room turned out," said Jolie. "It's so perfect for them."
