MTV'S AWARD WINNING DOCU-SERIES "TRUE LIFE" RETURNS WITH TWO NEW EPISODES ON TUESDAY, OCTOBER 18 BEGINNING AT 8PM ET/PT

New York, NY (October 17, 2011) - MTV's Emmy(R) Award-Winning series "True Life" returns with two all new episodes airing tomorrow, October 18th beginning at 8PM ET/PT. The pair of episodes gives viewers an inside look at two compelling experiences of young people. From battling an uncontrollable, debilitating illness to trying to overcome digital addictions the new episodes give insight into overwhelming forces controlling the quality of life of young people. The "True Life" episodes precede new episodes of "I Used to Be Fat" at 10PM ET/PT and "Chelsea Settles" at 11PM ET/PT.
"True Life: I Have Narcolepsy" - Airs at 8PM ET/PT
On this episode of True Life, you'll meet two young people who suffer from Narcolepsy, a neurological disorder that brings on overpowering sleep spells, and Cataplexy, a condition associated with Narcolepsy that causes sudden muscle failure. Julie, once a thriving high school student began to fall victim to Cataplexy attacks, causes her muscles fall asleep resulting falls to the ground unexpectedly several times a day. She is no longer able to drive or participate in activities like dance class for fear that her body will not function properly. Medications are an option but Julie fears that the potential side effects could be just as disabling as the maladies themselves. Viewers also meek Katy, who after suffering from Narcolepsy for nearly a decade, controls her affliction with an ever-increasing slew of pills causing adverse side effects. Katy's boyfriend begins to fear that the amount of medication she's taking could be harmful to her health and is urging her to stop using them cold turkey. Weaning off medications cause her to return to return to overwhelming sleep attacks. Katy must find a balance that will keep her healthy and happy.
"True Life: I'm A Textaholic" - Airs at 9PM ET/PT
On this episode of True Life, you'll meet two young women who are putting their relationships, health, and even their safety - on the line in order to maintain their digital addictions. Loren is a high school senior who sends over 14 thousand texts a month. Her non-stop messaging is damaging her hand and hurting her chances of playing volleyball in college, but she still refuses to change her ways. Kristin is a 20-year-old wife and new mother whose thirst for social stimulation has her texting 24/7. Her husband is fed up with playing second fiddle to a phone, but Kristin thinks he's just jealous that some of her texting buddies are guys.
"I Used To Be Fat" - Airs at 10PM ET/PT
College is all about reinvention, and for these 10 teenagers "there is no time like the present." Each one-hour episode will focus on a different teenager longing to make a drastic change in their life, following them through the last weeks of high school to the first crucial days of college. Viewers will get an inspirational and intimate account of their physical and emotional journey, as they struggle to change their attitudes eating habits, and ultimately their lives.
"Chelsea Settles" - Airs at 11PM ET/PT
Viewers will continue to follow Chelsea Settles, the charismatic 23-year-old recent college graduate with an eye for style, as she continues along her very personal journey towards a career in fashion in glamorous Los Angeles. She will now begin her new life on the West Coast, works to jumpstart her career in fashion and commit herself to take control of her weight and get healthy.
