Development Update: Tuesday, November 15
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

ALCATRAZ (FOX) - Jennifer Johnson and Daniel Pyne have been tapped to take over as showrunners of the upcoming FOX drama. They'll take over from Elizabeth Sarnoff, who's departing over creative differences. Johnson previously served as a consulting producer while screenwriter Pyne ("Fracture") is a new hire. Both will now serve as executive producers with Sarnoff expected to be credited as an executive consultant going forward. Said developments come on the heels of the producers' decision to undergo reshoots on the seven completed episodes before continuing on with the remaining installments in its 13-episode order. (Deadline.com)

ISABEL (NBC) - Todd Holland ("Free Agents") has been tapped to direct the comedy pilot, about "an otherwise normal angry middle-class family that wrestles with the challenges of everyday life while raising a daughter who has magical qualities." He'll also serve as an executive producer on the single-camera project, which comes from co-creators Howard Busgang and Tom Nursall and is based on the French-Canadian series "Le Monde De Charlotte." Aaron Kaplan and Jocelyn Deschenes also serve as executive producers. (Deadline.com)

MASTERS OF SEX (Showtime) - Teddy Sears and Nick D'Agosto have both been cast in the drama pilot, about "the lives, romance and pop culture trajectory of 1960s human sexuality pioneers William Masters (Paul Bettany) and Virginia Johnson, whose research touched off the sexual revolution." They'll play doctors who work with the pair. Michelle Ashford is behind the Sony Pictures Television-based hour, to be directed by John Madden. (Deadline.com)

PRIME SUSPECT (NBC) - The Peacock reportedly plans to shut down production on the freshman drama after it completes its original 13-episode order. While not technically canceled, said decision bodes very poorly for the show's future. "Suspect" has averaged 4.98 million viewers during its seven original broadcasts thus far this season, including a 1.4 rating among adults 18-49. Yesterday, NBC revealed newcomer "The Firm" will assume the show's Thursday, 10:00/9:00c slot beginning January 12. (Deadline.com)

UNTITLED JEFF EASTIN PROJECT (USA) - Aaron Tveit ("Gossip Girl") is the first to be cast in the drama pilot, about "agents from various federal and local agencies (DEA, FBI, LAPD) who all live at an undercover house in Southern California." He'll play Mike Warren, "a freshly minted FBI agent just out of the Academy and dripping wet behind the ears." Jeff Eastin is behind the Fox Television Studios-based project, production of which is still contingent on finding the remaining lead. (Deadline.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino will guest as himself on an upcoming episode of "Suburgatory" (EOnline.com); Valentina Cervi has joined the cast of "True Blood" as Salome, "an ancient vampire who is a world class seductress and fiercely intelligent" (TVLine.com); Edward Dogliani has been tapped as the wildling raider Lord of Bones on "Game of Thrones" (THR.com); Dean Cain will stop by "Criminal Minds" as a down-on-his-luck gambler who turns to killing (THR.com); Erica Durance will stop by "Harry's Law" as "a psychologically infirm woman who retreats into the persona of the DC Comics heroine Wonder Woman to help wreak revenge on perpetrators of domestic abuse" (TVLine.com); James Wolk will recur as Max's (Adam Pally) ex-boyfriend on "Happy Endings" (TVLine.com); plus Robert Ri'chard will turn up on "The Vampire Diaries" as "a new love interest of the bad-boy variety for its resident witch Bonnie (Kat Graham)" (EOnline.com).
