NBC PROMOTES MEREDITH AHR TO EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, ALTERNATIVE PROGRAMMING

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - July 30, 2012 - NBC has promoted programming executive Meredith Ahr to Executive Vice President, Alternative Programming, NBC Entertainment. The announcement was made today by Paul Telegdy, President, Alternative and Late Night Programming, NBC.

"Meredith is appreciated for her insight and thoughtfulness, both as a manager and creative executive. She couples exacting creative standards with partnership and collaborative skills in a way which pushes the Department and the producers we are in business with," said Telegdy. "Her promotion is an endorsement of her extraordinary work ethic, leadership and contribution to the successes of our Alternative Programming."

Ahr will continue to be responsible for NBC's alternative development, both in-house and from NBC's partnerships in the creative community. She will also work across the company's existing brands to ensure that evolution and ingenuity will continue. In addition, Ahr is charged with creative oversight of Universal Television's roster of reality producers in order to bolster the studio's slate of productions in the unscripted arena.

Ahr has recently been successful in developing the hit Emmy-nominated vocal competition series "The Voice" and is currently overseeing a diverse development slate that includes dating show "Ready For Love" with Executive Producer Eva Longoria, military-themed competition series "Stars Earn Stripes" with Dick Wolf and Mark Burnett, and Howie Mandel's return to game show as host and Executive Producer of "White Elephant."

Ahr, who will continue to report to Telegdy, previously served as Senior Vice President, Alternative Programming & Development since June 2010. Earlier, she was Vice President, Alternative Programming & Development since October 2007, during which time she successfully managed some of the division's biggest assets, including "America's Got Talent" and "The Celebrity Apprentice."

Ahr's 11 year career at NBC began when she joined as a Page in New York, which allowed her to work as a Production Assistant in the WNBC Creative Services department after 9-11, and as an assistant in the office of Bob Wright, then Vice Chairman and Executive Officer, GE, and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, NBC Universal. She moved to Los Angeles in 2004 as an entertainment associate after gaining experience in marketing and brand partnerships at the NBC Agency.

Before she joined NBC, Ahr was a news researcher at WCBS in New York. She is a graduate of Boston College, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.
