ESPN Releases Major Update to ScoreCenter app for iPad
Re-built app provides personalized scores, news, video, and alerts
from sports teams and leagues around the world
ESPN has released a new ScoreCenter app for the Apple iPad. Available now at the Apple App Store, ScoreCenter for iPad is completely re-designed to make it easier than ever for fans to follow the latest scores and highlights in the world of sports anytime, anywhere.
In addition to up-to-the-minute scores, news and video of the top live events of the day, ScoreCenter for iPad gives sports fans a personalized view of their favorite teams and leagues, including customized scoreboards, breaking news, alerts and video highlights, as well as live integrated Gamecasts and direct access to WatchESPN.
Designed specifically for Apple's Retina display, ScoreCenter for iPad features expanded game views and a new calendar-based navigation option, which gives fans access to the scores and other content of completed or upcoming games. Also, new social media features allow fans to share favorite games, videos and news with friends.
"We're always listening to our fans, and the importance of in-progress scores and information about favorite teams came through loud and clear," said Joe Alicata, Senior Director of Product Development for ESPN Digital Media. "We redesigned the app with focus on speed and utility, while making it easier to create a personalized experience that fans will go to constantly for their sports fix."
Since it was launched in April 2010, ScoreCenter for iPad has served live updates for more than 120,000 events. ScoreCenter for iPhone and iPad has been downloaded more than 28.5 million times from the Apple App Store, while delivering more than 1.3 billion alerts per month, with fans spending more than 1 billion minutes on the app per month.
