Jimmy Kimmel Served as Master of Ceremonies, Hosting His First Emmy(R) Telecast
ABC had a winning night at "The 64th Primetime Emmy(R) Awards" on Sunday, hosted by ABC's own Jimmy Kimmel, with critically acclaimed comedy "Modern Family" taking home four Emmys(R), including Outstanding Comedy Series, and "Dancing with the Stars'" Tom Bergeron scoring Outstanding Host for a Reality Program.
"Modern Family's" Julie Bowen and Eric Stonestreet both earned Emmys(R) for Outstanding Supporting Actress and Actor in a Comedy Series, marking the second consecutive win for Bowen for her portrayal of Claire Dunphy, and second Emmy(R) for Stonestreet, for his portrayal of Cameron Trucker. Co-creator and executive producer Steven Levitan also received an Emmy(R) for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series.
These wins join ABC's previously announced Emmys(R), for a total of nine statuettes. During the Creative Arts Emmy Awards on Saturday, September 15, the Network won for Outstanding Makeup for a Multi-Camera Series or Special, "Dancing with the Stars"; Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation, "Disney's Prep and Landing: Naughty Vs. Nice"; Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Comedy or Drama Series (Half-Hour) and Animation, "Modern Family," "Dude Ranch"; and Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Variety Series or Special, "84th Annual Academy Awards(R)."
