"KONY 2012" FILMMAKER JASON RUSSELL SPEAKS OUT FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE HIS PUBLIC BREAKDOWN ON "OPRAH'S NEXT CHAPTER" SUNDAY, OCT. 7
Russell skyrocketed to international fame in March when his video appealing to viewers to bring more attention to Joseph Kony, the Uganda rebel leader, reached over 100 million views online in less than one week. Amidst the global attention and intense scrutiny that followed the video's success, Russell was found on the streets of San Diego naked, yelling, disrupting traffic and pounding his fists on the pavement. For the first time since this public incident, Russell, along with his wife Danica, will discuss with Winfrey what happened on that day and the impact those events have had on his career, his marriage and his continued fight against Kony.
