TBS Calls on CONAN Fans to Rise Up and "Occupy CONAN"
CONAN to Become First Late-Night Series to Invite Fans
To Re-Create an Entire Episode Through Crowd-Sourcing
TBS's CONAN is about to become television's first late-night talk show to invite fans to re-create an episode through crowdsourcing. The "Occupy CONAN" campaign will challenge fans to work together to produce an entire episode. The campaign is set to begin in early November with an official kick-off announcement by Conan O'Brien. The fan-sourced episode will then air on TBS in January.
"Through the 'Occupy CONAN' campaign, Team Coco and TBS are turning over the reins of the show to the youngest and most digitally connected audience in late night" said Jeff Gregor, chief marketing officer of TBS, TNT and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). "Following on the heels of Team Coco's Emmy(R)-winning synchronized tablet app, the 'Occupy CONAN' campaign is yet another terrific example of how CONAN is leading the industry when it comes to creating innovative opportunities for fan engagement."
"We value the passion our fans have for the show," added Conan O'Brien. "'Occupy CONAN' is a great chance to get them involved in a new and unique way."
During an episode of CONAN in November, Conan O'Brien will announce the formation of the "Occupy CONAN" movement. He will invite fans from across the nation to rise up and re-create an entire episode of CONAN. The episode fans will be tasked with creating will be a special compilation episode made up of great moments from the show's second season.
Fans will be able to sign on as members of the movement and watch the selected episode through Team Coco's "Occupy CONAN" website at http://teamcoco.com/occupyconan/. They can then begin taping exact replicas of everything from Conan's opening monologue to skits to celebrity interviews. Fans can work on segments by themselves or together with other fans.
All videos must be submitted to the "Occupy CONAN" website by the announced deadline. Team Coco will then evaluate the videos and assemble the best version of each episode segment into a complete "Occupy CONAN" episode. The episode will air on TBS in January during CONAN's regular timeslot.
Produced by Conaco LLC, CONAN airs Monday-Thursday at 11 p.m. (ET/PT) on TBS. Jeff Ross serves as executive producer of CONAN. The show originates from Stage 15 at Warner Bros. Studios.
