LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- In a unique development, NBC is reformatting its single-camera comedy "Up All Night" to a multi-camera format.

Said change, as first reported by Variety.com, will take place after its 11th episode, due to air in December.

The series will then go on hiatus while its stage is converted to accommodate the four camera setup with production resuming on five additional episodes in February for an April premiere.

"This was an idea we and [Lorne Michaels] came to in order to infuse the show with more energy," NBC entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt told the publication. "We know what the multi-camera audience does for the live episodes of '30 Rock,' plus after seeing both Maya and Christina do 'SNL' within the past few months, we knew we had the kind of performers -- Will Arnett included -- who love the reaction from a live audience."

No cast changes are planned while showrunner Tucker Cawley and creator Emily Spivey will remain as executive producers.
