THANK GOODNESS! THIS THANKSGIVING FEAST YOUR EYES ON THE ENCORE OF MERMAIDS: THE BODY FOUND ON ANIMAL PLANET
--After Diving into Thanksgiving Dinner, Dive into the Animal Planet Special That Has Millions Question the Existence of Mermaids--
WHO: The legendary underwater creatures, MERMAIDS, are resurfacing for their encore on Thanksgiving evening
WHAT: Animal Planet blends reality and legend in MERMAIDS: THE BODY FOUND with the story of two scientists who testify they found the remains of a never-before-identified sea creature. The two-hour CGI special creates a story for viewers where mermaids swim below the water's surface, hunt with dolphins and may continue to survive in the depths of the oceans where they wish to remain hidden from others.
MERMAIDS: THE BODY FOUND delivered nearly 2 million viewers for its premiere and 1.5 million for its subsequent airing, making it the most watched telecast on Animal Planet since the Steve Irwin memorial special in September 2006.
MERMAIDS: THE BODY FOUND garnered dozens of fan plugs, including cheers from director M. Night Shymalan, actress Octavia Spencer and all of the Kardashians.
The special sparked controversy for two federal agencies. As a result of the widespread public reaction to MERMAIDS: THE BODY FOUND, the Department of Justice and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA) both put out statements, telling the public that mermaids do not exist.
WHEN: THANKSGIVING EVENING: Thursday, November 22, at 9PM (et/pt)
WHERE: Only on Animal Planet
WHY: Get another chance to see this two-hour special the government doesn't want you to see!
