[via press release from E!]

IN HER OWN WORDS MUSIC SUPERSTAR LEANN RIMES TELLS E!s GIULIANA RANCIC OF HER LOST CHILDHOOD, HER LOVE AFFAIR WITH EDDIE CIBRIAN, AND HER HARD-FOUGHT BATTLES WITH PERSONAL DEMONS IN "E! SPECIAL: LEANN RIMES" PREMIERING SUNDAY, DECEMBER 9 AT 8:00PM ET/PT

Los Angeles, CA, December 6, 2012 - With comparisons to legend Patsy Cline, nobody ever had a bigger Country Music debut than LeAnn Rimes, whose "Blue" immediately shot to the top of the charts in 1996. More hits followed, the awards piled up, and the offers kept coming. She crossed over to other genres, and eventually began acting, again with great success. Then, in 2009, Rimes' world changed forever when photos surfaced of LeAnn with her married "Northern Lights" co-star, Eddie Cibrian. Overnight, Rimes went from being America's Sweetheart to being vilified in the press and hounded by the media. Now, LeAnn Rimes sits down with E!'s Giuliana Rancic for the most frank and candid interview of her career. Join Giuliana as she visits LeAnn and Eddie in their home for an exclusive conversation you won't see anywhere else, when "E! Special: LeAnn Rimes" premieres Sunday, December 9 at 8:00pm ET/PT.

In the new special, both LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian share with Giuliana the intimate facts of their relationship, and how they grew stronger together despite all the criticism and name-calling. LeAnn addresses the childhood she never really had, having given up dolls and playtime for the hard grind of the Country Music circuit at an early age, and how that loss of innocence has plagued her ever since. She talks about the toll her parents' divorce took on her, and the ensuing legal battle she went through with her own father. LeAnn talks about the song she specifically recorded as an apology to her ex, Dean Sheremet, and she addresses head-on the rumors about her noticeable weight loss. Finally, she explains exactly why she decided to admit herself for inpatient treatment for stress and anxiety earlier this year, what she accomplished there, and why it was necessary to save herself from the demons that have tormented her for so long.

LeAnn on addressing all that has been said about her: "Let's get down and dirty."

LeAnn on what happened when it was discovered she was having an affair with Eddie: "I was America's Sweetheart for so many years, but it was just like everyone turned."

LeAnn on a childhood lost to the music business: "There's very few people in this world that can relate to being a child star. And most of us go down a very dark path."

LeAnn on the decision she and Eddie made to end their marriages and continue as a couple: "No one will ever understand how much thought and hurt were put into our decision."

LeAnn on the dark days that led to her seeking therapy: "When you look around and you go 'I'm crying, like, uncontrollably. No one can help me.' That's when I knew I had to seek help."

Leann on her 30 days of treatment: "I was incredibly depressed and not quite sure of who I was."

Leann on the media storm surrounding her decision to check in for treatment in 2012: "People are so quick to judge and make decisions for themselves about situations they know absolutely nothing about."

Leann on starting a family with Eddie: "Eddie and I talk about having kids and I would love to be a mom. I didn't ever want to bring a child into the world without taking care of myself. And that was another reason I decided to go (into treatment)."

Eddie Cibrian on the media firestorm surrounding the affair: "My heart goes out to her every single time she's getting bashed for something. It's unfair for her and it's unfair for us. It (the affair) wasn't frivolous, you know."

Don't miss the riveting story of this musical superstar's fall from grace, and her triumphant new life, when "E! Special: LeAnn Rimes" debuts on Sunday, December 9 at 8:00pm ET/PT only on E!
