truTV's "Impractical Jokers" Goes Mobile with New App
Content-Rich App is First Ever with Direct Phone Line to the Stars of a TV Show
App Hits Market in Time for Series' Dec. 13 Season Premiere
truTV has launched a brand new mobile app for Impractical Jokers, the hit show featuring four lifelong friends who take dares to an outrageous level. With the free truTV Impractical Jokers app, fans can now take their favorite pranksters with them wherever they go. The app's many features include extensive video clips, social media connections, a special doodle pad and, in a digital first, the chance to talk directly with the guys themselves through an exclusive hotline.
The truTV Impractical Jokers app is now available on the iOS and Android platforms and can be downloaded free from the iTunes App Store and Google Play. The content-rich app comes just in time for the show's second season, which launches Thursday, Dec. 13, at 10 p.m. (ET/PT). The following is a rundown of the exciting features available on the truTV Impractical Jokers app:
"Impractical Jokers Hotline" gives app users a direct phone line to the show's stars, who will happily chat if they're available. If the guys aren't around to pick up, callers will be treated to a special recorded message, which will be updated regularly. This marks the first time ever a TV series companion app has included a direct line to the stars of a show.
"Video Jam" offers dozens of hilarious clips from the series, refreshed on a regular basis. When new episodes air, the best clips will be posted right away.
"Come On People" brings fans together via social media, including posts from the show's stars, as well as fan comments about the show.
"Soundboard Smorgasbord" lets fans replay their favorite catch phrases that Joe, Sal, Murr and Q have used on the show.
"The Jokers Doodle Pad" section lets fans draw graffiti on photos of the show's stars. Fans can then save the artwork to their mobile devices and share with their friends.
In addition to the main features, the truTV Impractical Jokers app has a special alert function to remind fans when the show is on so they'll never miss a new episode.
About Impractical Jokers
truTV's Impractical Jokers premiered to critical acclaim in December 2011 and quickly became one of the network's biggest hits, especially among young adults. The series follows four friends - Joe, Sal, Murr and Q - as they dare one another to complete over-the-top challenges in public. Their antics are captured on hidden camera, complete with the unsuspecting public's amused, confused, or flabbergasted reactions. After each new dare, the guys are graded to determine who succeeded under pressure and who collapsed in defeat. The joker with the lowest score at the end of that week's episode must then face a mortifying challenge with truly humiliating consequences. Impractical Jokers is produced for truTV by NorthSouth Productions (Say Yes to the Dress), with Charlie DeBevoise and Mark Hickman serving as executive producers.
